REPUBLICANS WILL CUT SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDICARE AFTER TAX PLAN PASSES, SAYS MARCO RUBIO Florida Senator Marco Rubio admits that the Republican tax cut plan to aid corporations and the wealthy will require cuts to Social Security and Medicare to pay for it. Rubio told reporters this week that in order to address the federal deficit, which will grow by at least $1 trillion if the tax plan passes, Congress will need to cut entitlement programs such as Social Security. Advocates for the elderly and the poor have warned that entitlement programs would be on the chopping block, but this is the first time a prominent Republican has backed their claims. Rest of the story: |

After reading about the piss poor doctors being hired by the VA; It would be best to shut all VA Hospitals and allow all Vets to go to a regular local or special hospital at no cost to them. I'll bet our Vets would get better service and at a lower overall cost! |

The Social Security Act of 1935 (originally known as the Economic Security Act) was created to provide for the general welfare of United States citizens who are 65 years of age and older. Over the years, the liberals have turned it into just another government "hand out" program similar to Welfare... Don't believe me?....Just go into any Social Security Office and see how many overweight "baby mommas" and their illegitimate rug-rats are in there signing up for their "entitlements". BJ, How much time do you spend hanging around Social Security offices? What other benefits other than disability is one able to get? |

REECHEE, to answer your questions; The only times that I was in the Social Security office was several times in January, 2013 (when I reached 66 years old) and visited the SS office in Hamilton, Ohio to sign up for my benefits.....I had been working since age 15 and paying into Social Security for the last 51 YEARS at that time.
One woman was even there to sign up for her deceased husband's Social Security for herself and 4 or 5 kids after he was killed while holding up a bank!!! Oh, and BTW.....My late wife had worked and paid into Social Security for more than 30 years when she died of cancer at age 54.....She never drew ONE penny of SS benefits during her entire lifetime except for the $155 death benefit that Social Security sent to me after she died. ....And while I'm on my soapbox....I'm proud to say that in my (almost) 71 years of living that I have NEVER drawn a penny of unemployment or public assistance OF ANY KIND. Anytime that my family or I needed or wanted anything, I got off my azz and went to work....And STILL do. This message has been edited by bjprowler on 12-04-2017 at 07:20 PM |

OK, I may need to go take a shower or have a stiff drink after posting this but .... BRAVO BJ!! That is the way Social Security is / was supposed to work, I think ... NOT the way that is being gamed and robbed and abused today by so many. Heck, if some idiot is robbing banks - sorry, you lose SS benefits. If you are from another country and never paid into the system - sorry, NO benefits for you. REECHEE ... seems you may be more out of touch with reality that BJ is ... I mean, I knew you were a "true" Californian (and wow, doesn't THAT take on new meaning in the last 50 years!) .... but BJ is quite a bit more centered in his beliefs and expectations that what you portray on here. OK ... phew ... think I was possessed ... sorry ole Beeejaaaay if I offended you on any of that rant! |

I had to go to the "Welfare" office while my mom was in a Rest Home with Dementia. They had her in assisted living and she had been falling and they didn't want to put her into full care, which is taken care of by Medicaid. She was in her mid 80s and didn't know our names any longer. They turned me down the first time. I appealed and lost and started all over again and finally got her benefits. She was born in 1919 and worked most of her life and had little to show for it. I stuck out like a sore thumb in the welfare office. I got the run around every time I had to go there. Most of the "regulars" came in after me and got finished and left while I was still there. They seemed to get preferential treatment. They almost all had several babies in tow and were fairly young. None of them looked like they had been denied anything from the looks on their faces and their moods as they left. By the way, I get $ 150 a month in S.S. benefits. I have a state pension so I get penalized even though I paid into S.S. and was told I would get about $ 700 to 800 a month. Ohio is one of 9 or 11 states that you are penalized. I have no idea how a Federal law is applied differently from state to state. DRAIN THE SWAMP, both parties need an enema. This message has been edited by ed monahan on 12-04-2017 at 10:14 PM |

Hey BJ I too have never been on unemployment or received public assistance. It's not something I would expect KUDOS for either. I believe it's what any upstanding citizen would do. Not only that but my wife and I give thousands of dollars to charity and I even keep my donations current for POA to show my appreciation for this wonderful site. Congrats to you for not being on welfare or unemployment. Maybe you could even donate to the POA this coming year to show appreciation to the Krehels for this site they so generously pay for. I may not agree w/Reeche on any of his politics but he always donates every year putting his money where his mouth is. |

My one and only trip to the local Social Security office really opened up my eyes.... I enter and immediately a security officer tells me to take-a-number and be seated. Must have been a hundred people seated, so I take a seat and my mind starts analyzing those waiting to see a SS person. I realize that many bring along a wife, friend, or a relative with them,,,,but my scanning notices that over 85% of those waiting are between 25 to 45 years old. I didn't see over a dozen individuals who looked like they were of retirement age. After an hour and forty-five minutes, my number moves up only about eight or nine numbers Finally I get up to go ask the entrance security officer a question: > "Am I in the right place to see about my upcoming Social Security benefits?" "Yes sir, you are" I ask: "Why are there so many younger people waiting here?" "I can only guess sir that they are here to file for Disability benefits" I didn't see many of these younger individuals with such handicap disabilities that they couldn't get a job to stay off of Disability. I conclude that there is a mass amount of low-life, poverty dwellers just wanting to milk the system so they don't have to work for a paycheck. [many looked like they still could work for 'cash' and stay under the radar while getting a government check At that point I hand the security officer my number and leave. Went home, got on the computer, and read all the information I was looking for...... What a crock-of-crap #SS system has become! I know many may need disability income help,,,but seeing so many healthy looking people applying for benefits seemed too excessive. Several years ago I met a young man in Tennessee nicknamed "Rooster" who was approximately 23 years old and had NEVER HELD A JOB IN HIS ENTIRE LIFE..... He had dropped out of school after the 8th grade. He lived in a depilated tool shed and worked at menial odd jobs from time to time in order to get money for cigarettes and beer. He told me that he spent most of his time at the SSI office trying to get what he called a "Crazy Check" since he had no physical disabilities to qualify him for Social Security Insurance benefits. Here's what a "Crazy Check" is: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=crazy%20check This message has been edited by bjprowler on 12-05-2017 at 01:00 PM |
