California is one of the toughest to get, Two interviews, then a resident check, then they talk to several of your neighbors. Then you must hire a instructor and take a 16 hour class , then you have to qualify with your side arm. You CAN ONLY CARRY the gun that you qualify with as it is recorded on the CCW. Takes about 11 months to get. And you CANNOT use self protection as a reason to carry. California will NOT honor any other states CCW. California permits are good for two years. Many other states you get just by going on the internet and answering a few questions.

California ... land of fruits and nuts ... if it weren't for Disneyland, we probably would never visit.

Not my favorite place to live anymore either, I live about 5 miles from Disneyland, A 1600 sq foot home starts at $ 680,000...Great place to make money on real estate if you bought early. When we bought our home, we paid $ 129,500 which I thought was insane. We are under Prop 13 which keeps our taxes low as our property tax is only $ 1100.00 a year. Lots of traffic, tons of people, But you just can't beat the weather here.

Phil, that's some serious B.S. you have to go through in CA to get your CCW permit. I'm curious what would be an acceptable reason to carry concealed in California if you cannot carry for self defense and are not law enforcement? In Arizona you can carry concealed even without a CCW permit. I got my CCW mainly for when I travel to Colorado which recognizes Arizona's CCW permit. The AZ CCW course consists of an 8 hour course mainly focusing on laws and responsibilities, fingerprinting, written test and weapon qualifying at the range. The AZ CCW permit is good for 5 years. I grew up with the understanding and respect of handling and using a firearm. I would never live in a state where I could not have and carry my firearms. Police are not able to protect the citizens at home or in public. They carry guns to protect themselves and arrive after an incident to make out a report.

California will not accept self protection, Being that our company does 24 hour road calls on heavy duty big rigs, we travel within a 100 mile radius of Orange County. Because we only accept cash from truckers ( As they use fake checks & credit cards ) The service truck sometimes has many thousands of dollars in it. Plus I was an Ex. Aux police officer in Illinois.
I am curious as I have a Arizona CCW also, plus a Utah which allows me to carry all over the west except Oregon & Colorado. I am also a home owner in Lake Havasu, Arizona but as per the CCW map, All 3 of my permits are NOT accepted in Colorado where my daughter lives. Are you sure they told you it was good there as I will be there in September and plan to unload at the state line. The reason I have the Utah one is when I visit our other daughter in Washington State, as they will NOT accept California or Arizona. California is very tough on gun laws. As of January 1st 2018 You have to buy a permit from the state just to buy ammo here, yet I can drive 300 miles to my other home and buy a gun from a gun store or garage sale with just my Arizona ID. And there is NO 10 day wait. You buy it, you take it right away.

Phil, I would check with the Colorado Department of public safety first just to be clear on the concealed carry. As far as carrying in a vehicle I don't think it would be a problem.
Title 18: Colorado allows a person to carry a firearm in a vehicle if its use is for lawful protection of such person or another's person or property. [C.R.S. 18-12-105(2)] Colorado law also allows a person to possess a handgun in a dwelling, place of business, or automobile. However, when you carry the weapon into your home, business, hotel room, etc. it must be in plain view. Local jurisdictions may not enact laws that restrict a person's ability to travel with a weapon. [C.R.S. 18-12-105.6] The Act permits the nationwide carrying of concealed handguns by qualified current and retired law enforcement officers and amends the Gun Control Act of 1968 (Pub. L. 90-618, 82 Stat. 1213) to exempt qualified current and retired law enforcement officers from state and local laws prohibiting the carry of concealed firearms.

Title 33: In accordance with Colorado wildlife laws, including C.R.S. 33-6-125, you may carry a weapon in your vehicle. However it is unlawful for any person, except a person authorized by law or by the division, to possess or have under his control any firearm, other than a pistol or revolver, in or on any motor vehicle unless the chamber of such firearm is unloaded. A "muzzle-loader" shall be considered unloaded if it is not primed, and, for such purpose, "primed" means having a percussion cap on the nipple or flint in the striker and powder in the flash pan.

Where your primary residency is may be a factor for you as far as concealed carry. Again, I would definitely double check with Colorado law enforcement to make sure your compliant with Colorado laws. See the link below regarding Colorado's concealed carry reciprocity laws.
