My question is; "How in Hell did it become the government's OR EMPLOYERS responsibility to provide, or even get involved in health care?"   Years ago, health insurance was devised to be a "perk" or incentive that employers voluntarily offered in order to attract employees..... YOU are responsible for your parents debt if....... YOU are the one in charge of their estate. Debtors have one year to file a claim in most states. When you go into probate after the death the judge will tell you who is making a claim on your parents estate. If they have a real claim the money owed will be charged against that estate. Usually if it's under a few thousand dollars nothing will happen. If it is a large amount they will want to settle at a lower amount. If it's the Government you better get a lawyer. If the money owed is more than the value of the estate You will owe nothing after the value of the estate has been exhausted. In your case they will be after your Mom for your Dads bills. I have a great lawyer Gort,,, nothing,,, absolutely nothing is in my mothers name. She gets a SS check and thats it. They can not take that from her because that is her only means of living. All this was done 15 years ago,, no probate necessary. I would suggest everyone else doing the same. Life is cruel sometimes and you never know if you are next. The fact that he is paying all his moms bills, make me think the estate or his mom has any money. Cindy's dad was the same way when he passed, only had enough money left to pay funeral expenses, his house was not in his name. This message has been edited by garysss on 03-22-2017 at 07:20 PM |

Back to Reecheeee's proposal ....I would counter, and in addition to enacting TERM LIMITS, I would say that Congress, conversely, be on the same health care as the average citizen ... deductibles and all. THAT is the only way they will DO THEIR JOBS and craft a solution that "works" ... otherwise, what is their motivation to do so?! |
