Just a question about the built date for my 99 Prowler. On the door sticker, it shows the vehicle made in January of 98!! How did they sell as a 99?

Since there were production delays and they were switching to the 253 HP engine there was no 1998 models produced so when production started again in January 1998 they were all considered 1999 Models...Lots of vehicles have have early build dates. The 2010 Camaro for example started rolling of the line in March 2009.

You can legally sell the next year's model effective January 1st of the year before. Cars built in January, 1998 could have been sold as the 1999 model year. January 1st, 2018 you could sell a 2019 MY vehicle. I know it's confusing.

They built some in 1998 but they sold them as 1999. They did not have a "1998" Prowler. They skipped right into 1999.
