Thanks for the PM's regarding a needed ball joint. They will need one to analyze. So it will be cut open and inspected. I know this is a bit of a hassle but once they tear into it, shouldn't take too long to conclude weather or not they can help. So the sooner we get them one the sooner we will get an answer. They MAY at some point need a lower arm but right now that's not in the cards. I will contact Glen and let him know that a sample is being prepared. Let me find out who to make it attention to. Thanks everyone...will be in touch ASAP! |

It might help if some folks would go to their dealer and attempt to buy a set of ball joints. That would indicate to Chrysler that there is a demand. There is an off chance that some dealership actually has a ball joint or two. I realize every dealership is connected to the main computer, however, glitches happen. I also KNOW from experience that a part I needed was nowhere to be found and someone got one at their dealer. It turns out there are different "zones" in the country and everything really isn't connected all that well. Someone on the west coast needs to try to order one, for sure. Maybe someone in the mountain time zone could also try. They need your VIN and mileage to attempt to order one and they have to do it by email. If you can spare 30 minutes or so, please give it a try. We maybe could get lucky. |

Several weeks ago I was in contact with Dallas Dodge about the ball joints I have on backorder. He can see scattered inventory around the US (just a few) but the dealers that have them refused to ship them. |

I believe that we all are willing to do whatever is necessary to help our hobby and friends. I thank everyone involved. I couldn't have sent my old ball joints without Robin sending me new ones. This is a great family of people. |

There is NO EXCUSE to let this happen to you. We have had plenty of warning. I choose to ignore them and I am very fortunate that I was not hurt and only minor damage to my car. These are replacement ball joints with 95,000 miles on them and I never checked for damage. Sent to Rare Parts. |

I just got a call from the dealer. The don't show any in the system. If we create a demand, we might convince them to reproduce them !!!! ??? |

Here's one thing that really irritates me about FCA's decision to abandon our needs regarding this ball joint issue. As most know TRW was the original manufacturer of the ball joints. TRW was bought and is owned now by the company ZF. Who is ZF?? ZF is an automotive company that builds a lot of products for several auto manufacturers. In particular to us is that they build transmissions for FCA! So here's a company that bought TRW, has direct ties to Chrysler and probably has all the ball joint specifications needed to reproduce them. But instead we get blown us off like second class citizens. I heard and read where people have said, "the Prowler is going on 20 years old and FCA didn't build it, so they really owe nothing at this point. Is it really that big of a deal in the grand scope of the auto world to keep a few suspension parts available for us? I think not! Hopefully Rare Parts will come through. If they do they might be willing to make a few other necessary pieces as well. |

The ball joints are extremely hard to find (if not impossible). There is an effort underway to get them manufactured again by a diff. company. You can buy the entire lower A arm at the dealer, I think. About $ 1200 ??!! |

My vehicle is a 2002 the ball joint just poped out of the bushing while pulling out of the driveway I called the recall line and it's a recall from 2003 on the front right ball joints of these vehicles I have appointment with Chrysler deale. recall is going to pay for it. I'm a new owner just bought it in April I have to send them a copy of my bill of sale just to prove it and they will only pay for it This message has been edited by GODFATHER on 05-26-2018 at 08:40 PM |

Ed, There was a set on there for $ 400.00 It must have sold. When Gary first told me that Chrysler wasn't going to make more , I bought a set just in case from the dealer to keep in stock. |
