Want to ask why I have seen so many Prowlers advertised with the sunvisors removed? Mine included. Are they in the way of interior space? I may be looking for a pair to get ready for the trip to the Prowler event in June. I needed them this morning on the way home from work. The sun was blinding! Rob 99 purple/red.

Many people remove them for the look.
I find them very help full at deflecting the wind and the sun for that matter.

Send out a WTB sun visor quest in classifieds...
Some one will have a set...

I removed the sun visors on my Prowler and now on my Viper. I wear a hat 90% of the time the sun is out and the top is down and between sunglasses and tipping the brim of the hat when the sun is low in the sky I just don't miss the visors at all. Part of the reason is the looks with the top down. My opinion is the visors look like they were just stuck on the top of the windshield but a bigger reason for me is how much more light gets in and how much more open it feels without the visors.

I agree with Marty,,,

Cat sun visors are a waste of valuable extra front vision.

Buy a hat and a good pair of quality sunglasses.....

I'm not a hat guy, took mine off for a while, yes it does look better, but put them back in because I use my sun visors in all my car daily. Very sensitive eyes.

Put a post up looking for sun visors, by no means buy them from the rip off artist in Florida ( know a guy that paid 500 from him)

I offered to sell my sun visors one time for $1.5 million dollars a while back because they came off of an alien space craft. Remember this post from CCD a while back.

http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/022337.html

By the way, they are still for sale. Lol

I believe most remove the sun visors because they are covered in a very cheap vinyl that has a visible seam. They truly look cheap, extremely so.

I took a different route. I had mine covered in leather to give them a Prowler appropriate look. I also had my center console lid covered in leather.

They may look silly and block most of your view when down, but I like the fact that when I angle it just right, it allows the air to flow over my head and not directly into my forehead. Anyone 6 foot tall or more would understand.

I am over 6 foot and when I got my Prowler it didn't have sun visors so I bought some and installed them. I never noticed the wind on my forehead. Maybe it's because my seat is all the way back and using the lowering feature built into the seat it is all the way down.

I have had my sun visors for 17 years. I don't even notice them. And they look great covered in Orange Leather not the cheap factory stuff.

I've tried to lower the driver seat as much as possible, but my forehead still lines up with the windshield header. And I am 6'0". Maybe when we all meet up in June I can see what others have done. I also noticed riding in the passenger seat I am sitting lower than the driver, and the passenger visor doesn't make as much of a difference with blocking the wind.

If you have read the owners manual and fully comprehended how to lower the rear of the seat, and it is not low enough for you, there have been discussions in the past about a seat lowering kit.

If you do a search for "Seat Lowering" (Subject Only), you will find six topics that discuss it over the years. There may be valuable information there for you.

I remember seeing a goofy Prowler review not long ago where a guy while doing the review said there was no head room in the Prowler. He probably didn't know the seat could be lowered.

Being only 5' tall, I need the visors. I don't have a problem with the way they look up or down. They are functional!

Your seat is not all the down, should go down a couple inches. Would be glad to show you in June, but that is long time off. Trying moving your seat a little forward first, if back of seat is against back of cab seat won't go down. Everything seems to be hard to move on these seats, i think you pull up on lever, you might have to bounce your butt on seat a little to get it to move. Make sure back of seat is not hitting, after seat goes down, then adjust seat back and slide whole seat back.

There are two rods on the SIDE of the seat, plus the one in the front.

Sorry for hijacking this thread considering it was about visors and not seat height. Honestly it is not a big deal and I can live with it until I meet you all in June.

I think the Prowler would look better with about 1/2 the windshield too....but I think I'll just leave it alone...

Think people were using goo gone to remove it, do a search and you will find lots from back in the early days

They might not come off as easy today since they have been on for 15-20 years

Acetone will work too, but need to work quickly and carefully and NOT oversaturate. Someone was making stickers just to place over the seatbelt warning .... that is another option.
