We managed to survive thru another Hurricane almost untouched. We just moved into a new home 1-month ago and the only thing that was messed up was a few palm trees that were planted. They were just blown over. But all & all we feel very blessed. Thanks for your concerns. |

Sure hope Mike and his family and Jay & Nancy are OK. Tried calling Jay's 800 numbers to no avail today. Was supposed to go to Ft. Laud. tomorrow but all my jobs are flooded out and many without roofs. No gas to be had yet so will go next week. |

It was a wild ride Monday morning. We had shutters up and could not see outside, but the roar of the freight train I have heard others talk about was very evident. The eye wall went right over us and the back half was stronger than the front. Most trees are down and those that are left are de foliated. All of us lost roof tiles and everyone who had a pool enclosure lost it. In short it looks like a war zone in our town. Fortunately we only lost power for one hour, the rest of Broward County (98%) is out and could be out for up to 4 weeks. Underground utilities seemed to really help us. Another good thing is the weather really cooled down and those without power are not suffering with heat and humidity. There is hardy any gas stations with power for almost 200 miles so no cruising for a while, good thing because the courtesy of stopping at intersections with no traffic lights only lasted the first day. My Kat will be safe in the garage for a while. Only six more weeks of hurricane season, we are getting too good at dealing with them. Bring me winter! Thanks for thinking of us. Thank you for all your concern. We just came home after 3 days and the house is not too bad. Marco Island took the direct hit at 120 MPH and you cant believe the power of Wilma. My house only has minor damage, pool cage , some roof tiles and gutters. Others are not so lucky. The stores are still standing although badly beaten, and it may be some time before Naples is back to any kind of Normal. We really are thankful to just be safe.

Alive & well after a horrendous Monday morning with "Wilma"!! We had no structural damages at home or the office but a major mess as you can imagine after 100 mph plus winds! With the loss of power at both our home and office we have managed to get the yard cleaned up and the hurricane shutters opened back up. Thankfully the cooler temperatures were welcome with no a/c. We all appreciate everyone's calls of concern and hope the other Florida Kat Packers are safe & sound as well. Thanks again! Jay p.s. The "YELLER CAT" rode out the storm in the garage with no damages! |

We go the eye of the sorm here in Jupiter. The front eye wall was not bad. The rear eye wall knocked down my front palm trees and blew apart my fence like sheets of paper. I am luck because I got power back in 24 hrs... I am on the same grid at the water treatment plant. I think Wilma gained in strength as she got over the east coast gulf stream. The worst hit areas are south Palm Beach county and Ft Lauderdale. They never got the eye and sat in the bottom eye wall for hours. ------------------ |

Ed....to answer your question as to where they go with all the garbage, debris etc...I'm quite certain I heard they are having convoys heading north to Ohio!! Seriously, I haven't a clue....I assume they are making our garbage mountains that much higher. Our neighbor (at home) phoned this afternoon to say power had been restored in our neighborhood. Latest report was still no power in Ft Lauderdale at the office. |

I'm so glad to hear my fellow "packers" are OK. I hate to see this happen to anybody, but once again I am very thankful that the Tampa Bay area dodged another bullet. Driving home from work the Thursday nite before the storm (from Englewood) took me 4-1/2 hours (usually 1 hour 15 minutes)as people evacuated south Florida. Tried to get to Ft Myers the Tuesday after and traffic on I-75 was backed up all the way to Bradenton (90 miles) as people returned to their homes. May the hurricane gods have mercy on Florida next year! |

Just got power back YEEESSSSS. The storm did some real damage in Palm Beach County, but sure the Prowler was safe and sound in the garage and my house had only minimal damage. Some like my parents didn't get as lucky with their condo on the beach being condemned .... Now for the roads to get cleaned up enough to go prowling again |

Dixie Cat, send it up here. We will repackage it and send it to AZ at a tidy profit. lol Brian, Sandy has two sisters in Jupiter, they did not get any damage at all, not even roofing shingles. They live about a mile or two west of the Turnpike. |
