...bought my first one Dec 98.....I have had quite a few Kats since then and enjoyed them tremendously.....a couple of years ago I got kinda bored with the Kats and sold my daily driver "Orange Kat"(kept the other two)....started driving other things for a change of pace....the 2 Kats I had left were only out of storage 2 or 3 times last year and driven less than 20 miles each(the 2000 Kat still has only 150 miles on it)....they are still sitting for that matter....but after a long haitus from Prowlin' the streets I bought another daily driver, "Gold Kat", a few weeks ago and I must admit the thrill is back....I am having as much fun today Kattin' as I did 7 years ago....I think they get in your blood or something....thay aren't fast or luxurious...they are just plain Kool and alot of fun.... ...several long time owners have sold their cars recently and others are for sale....different reasons for the sales, but I know many of them will replace the Prowler sometime down the road and the others will remember the good times with a far away look in their eye and proclaim "wish I still had that car"...if you can, just park the car for a season, come back next year and it will be just like a new toy again...I don't picture myself ever NOT owning a Kat of some sort...it is an attitude/lifestyle that I really enjoy....in a few years I may park the Kats again for a long while, but Prowlers will never leave my garage.... |

Larry - glad to see you have finally come back to your senses. Has your wife changed her mind yet? I'd advise you keep a Viper and/or a Corvette or two around - much cheaper than a divorce lawyer! HAVE FUN!!!!! |

Marty, ...no, she still doesn't care for the Prowlers, and she especially hates the new one....time to get her car outta the bag soon and shut her up...she only drove it a couple of times last year anyway....just not a car person.... I think she has only driven a Viper one time that I recall, doesn't like them either...okay to ride in a short while, but no desire to drive them at all...she does like to drive the Vettes, they seem to fit her best... I have had my car since July of `98....am I tired of it.....maybe......it is taking up space I could use for other stuff.....everyone has seen it and it is old news.... no new mods in quite a while..... not that I haven't bought some parts, just not put them on and they don't make that big a deal. Still want to chrome the front end, get the new panel from Bob for behind the seats.....and the biggest is the car needs repainted. 23,000 miles on a custom paint is showing. Need to dress up under the hood and get MORE POWER. But I don't know if I want to sink that much more money into it. I still want that `61~`62 Corvette, want another E Body (`Cuda/Challenger), Sue would like another `68 GTX. So the Prowler sits in the garage most of the time. It is paid for and I know if I sold it I would regret it later, like selling my `71 Cuda convertible. I still enjoy getting it out and driving it, just don't have many places to go that I feel comfortable to take it. Don't have much time to just take it out and drive it either. I have driven the Dart 85 miles so far and don't know how much the Cat will get drove this year once I get the bugs out of the Dart, but insurance & plates are not that much so it will sit in the garage until I go to a Prowler event. I had butterflies when I seen the car for the 1st time. When I do get it out I still feel very lucky to have been able to buy it. ------------------ |

I have had my kat since July of 98. I doubt that I will ever sell it, but I will probably move on to something else in the near future. I have had my 1951 Plymouth since 1965, I bought the 1928 Plymouth in 1987; the 1975 Duster we bought new; the 1966 Fury Convertible we bought in 1991. I guess it is just not in my nature to sell them. This year's project is the house addition, but I expect to start looking for a new ride next year. |

TUIB good topic and great story! Could never get tired of the best therapy I ever had. I remember when my Kat turned 1,600 miles a buddy of mine was cruisin' with me and said wow you just turned 16 and I said yea and I feel like it too, as I smashed the pedal like a cockroach and abused that country road. I know of no other car that just by sitting in it can make you feel younger, 20 lbs lighter with a full head of hair and no worries. It still makes no sense to me that Plymouth could produce the hands down coolest car on the planet and then vaporize. On the other hand I admire anyone or thing that goes out a WINNER! I am thankful Chrysler finished out the run! This message has been edited by SirReal on 04-27-2005 at 04:33 PM |

WILDKAT, selling that 71 'Cuda vert was probably a terrible financial decision...Can you believe the prices of E-bodies these days??? I just sold my Viper, after 3.5 AWESOME years with it. I still can't believe I watched as the new owner drove it away from my house, I think I have been so busy with work I have not had time to grieve...Prior to that, I sold my self restored 73 Cuda #'s matching 340 4-speed car, that too was painful...I think my curse is not having a garage with high enough ceilings, so I can not accomodate a stacker (like the back yard buddy) so I am limited to one kewl car in the garage... I should get my Kat delivered on 5/13, so here is hoping it will be as AWESOME as I expect it to be Tomer |

People seem to go through interests like boating, horses, camping, flying, golf and more, some of these things stick and some just fade away. When you count up the times you put the boat in the water last year and the count is 2 it’s time to move on. I’ve had the cat for less than a year and I’ll tell you I was itching to hit the road this spring after a long Wisconsin winter. After all, you can launch the cat from the garage with no life preservers, and you don't need to clean the scum off the bottom. ------------------ |

Since by buying the Dream Cruiser convert I have not driven the Prowler as much. But then again the weather hasn't been great either. But the thrill is not gone and I will never get rid of it. We owned it 6 years. This message has been edited by BeWare on 04-28-2005 at 05:00 PM |

This is a great post!! My car has been a dream. I think I might be better known in my town for that car than anything else. The attention is sometimes overwhelming. I thought I could enjoy it more, but that hasn't happened. I have 2 kids, 5 & 7, so I can't take them out together, ever. And family and home commitments take alot of valuable weekend time to enjoy the car. I know I will regret selling, but the impracticality of it has now outweighed the joy of ownership. |

Four years and a lot of miles but I am not tired of driving it. Maybe the fact that my car in a constant state of change contributes to me not getting tired of it. I am on my third and fourth modifiction on some parts of the car. I still have another 23 payments to make on it and when that is done I will probably get another daily driverbut NOT sell the Prowler. |
