The wheel and pedals are Logitech GT Force feedback steering wheel. (On sale for $112.00 at amazon.com) THIS IS WHAT MAKES THE GAME. The shifter to the right of the wheel works just like the Auto stick. The wheel setup is made for this game especially. you feel every bump in the road. Takes about 15 minutes to get used to the setup, but you quickly forget you are playing a game and realize this is as close as you can get to a Prowler Driving Simulator. Once I get my component cables, the game will play in 1080i High definition. Sound is 5.1 digital surround thru the optical cable. Currently playing on a Sony 57" HDTV. The combination of it all is amazing.
For the price of a PS2, a copy of GRan Turismo 4, and the LOgitech steering Wheel made fot GT4, you have an amazing Prowler driving simulator right down to the wind buffeting you only hear thru your sub woofer at high speeds. the details are amazing. It was worth the 4 year wait for this game. You can pick 3 views to drive with...in car, where you can see your front fenders bouncing...deep in-car, and behind car. No Black Tie but silver is close enough for me! |

I have seen GT4 being played using a silver prowler. It is so realistic, you can see the suspension movement, and the driver actually looks in the direction the car is turning. Amazing stuff. |

Hmm... I haven't played video games since galaga / donkey kong days. But this has my attention. Can a non-gamer learn this easy enough and what's the total cost with the complete setup with steering wheel and all? |

As I've said in my other posts regarding GT4...BUY THIS GAME! This goes for anyone else who is like RPowell and haven't played video games since Donkey Kong or maybe never has played video games at all. BTW, BlackTie, I bought a set of component cables for the PS2 at Best Buy for about $15. Made a huge difference in other games, and the ability to play GT4 in 1080i resolution makes it so realistic I almost got scared taking a high speed turn while playing on my HDTV! |

Now you really got me thinking. I`m going to my brothers to see this game tommorow. He`s picking it up tonight. I just set up a High Definition Projector that I watch tv on now (Voom HD). This would be great to see on a 100" HD screen! I`ll probably have to buy a playstation now. I like computer gaming better, but if I get to drive the Prowler.....This winter has been way too long. Goin shoppin'.... |

LOL GRROWL, You think that was by accident? You broke the code! :: RPowell: A New Playstation 2: $120 approx? digital surround reqires an optical cable. If the Tv is at least a 42" you will forget it's a game. It is NOT a GAME. They make it clear that it is a DRIVING SIMULATOR. It is essentially a chance to be able to drive any car you've wanted in any location around the world. It is incredibly convincing on a large TV.... wuzzer: I have component cables on order....down here in the stix...there's no store that has 'em. After playing for longer than I should have today, I realized the steering wheel packs plenty of feedback force, and your arms will feel any lengthy races...but when an opponent bangs you from the side, and you feel the wheel wrench from your hand, you swear you got broadsided for real! Skidmore: You'll be dizzy from a 100" screen unless you are playing from across the street...trust me on this one. halicat: Which race series do I have to win to get the Prowler in simulation mode? BTW: You can race the Prowler right off the bat in Arcade mode.... This game is the closest you can get to a ral driving simulator depending on ho much peripheral goodies you have running the game....IE: You only feel the high wind buffeting your car if you have a subwoofer...the effect is amazingly convincing. |

Personally the game for me is too easy...The AI could try to block me. Pantera, the colors are silver, yellow, inca gold, candy red, and orange. I have 3 prowlers currently in my gaming garage. I have one orange kat with 426hp, run's high 11's, and does 201 MPH. Yes a 201 MPH prowler. My favorite track is Circut De La Sarthe II (something like that, it's the 24 hours of LeMans track)and the back straight is a pretty long two lane road. Driving on that think makes me feel like I'm on the autobahn. The only downside to the prowler is that you can't race it in any of the other races cause it's special a special car but it's fun just to play around with. Just yesterday I baught a GTS in the game. 986HP, somewhere around there, and took it on the test course. I lowered the car, windled out the transmission, applyed the nitrous at full force and let it rip! I just managed to get the car up to 301 MPH but at those speeds the car is extremely loose on racing slicks. Silvrkat, Gran Turismo is a Playstation franchise for many years now. There is a series (1,2,3, and 4) and possibly some project explaining them all and the future of the game. BTW those that are playing GT4, wash you car and get the an oil change often. Improves aerodynamics and horsepower. |

Very interested in going back to my childhood and playing games on the TV (yes, they had TVs and games - Pong back then . . . ) Anyway, while doing some research on purchasing the PS2, I saw that there are some 8MB memory cards for the PS2. My question, is that something I need and should buy now ? Also, there is a new design PS2, is it better than the previous version which is still available? What are you guys using to put your steering wheel on, do they sell tables for that purpose? Anything else we should know? Thanks in advance, |

I can't remember if the memory cars comes with the PS 2but yu need one. Though you can just pop in GT 4 and drive a Prowler in Arcade mode without a card. The wheel has clamps that grip a table edge. Find something sturdy...I'm still hunting down the ideal setup. Some fanatics build their own cockpit.....hmmmm. |

Where you need the memory cards is when you save the last game or setups. In the case of GT4 you also get other stuff based on how many days played, races won, etc. So if you plan on playing multiple games or turning the machine off and on you would really need a card or two. I have one for football, one for socom 2, a and a few others. |

Not into the racing games but the Prowler is sweet looking. Too bad about the Black Tie. Is it a bottom feeder as far as cars go in the game? You have to love the advances in video game tech. |

The PS2 memory card is proprietary, so you will have to buy the special PS2 card in order to save your games. Definitely get the new slim PS2. It has built in ethernet, which the old one didn't, and the DVD drive is much faster than the old one. The old one did have a slot of a harddrive, but it was only ever used with one game so it isn't really worth it. |

Like super doppler said the memory cards are explicitly for the ps2. As far as which model, I don't have the slimline. However, mine came with the network interface (ethernet card) and headset. The slim line unit does not have the internal fan, so it does run hot so there are trade off with having a slightly faster DVD and a hot processor. My nephew has never had issues with the slimline and he is probably on it more often than not. You can also hook up a cheap keyboard to do chat during online play. Do get the component cables as everyone mentioned if you have HD inputs on your tv. |
