Do most of you hand wash your Kat at home? Has anyone ever dared to take your Kat through a full service car wash. I myself usually wash at my fathers self serve car wash. This message has been edited by ProwlinNM on 12-16-2004 at 12:40 AM |

No way should you take your cat through a car wash! I hand wash both of mine. The only time I've ever taken it to a do-it-yourself car wash has been on a Prowler event where there wasn't any other choice. |

The only time I took it to a pressure washer was to remove the sand from the bottom and fender wells after a trip to the beach. The rest of the time, I wash it in my garage. |

Actually, on out way back from Colorado, we got caught in a snow storm and the Prowler needed a bath. We rolled into Bakersfield (home of Buck Owens), and the only place we could find was a full service car wash. Now for those who are wondering, they did measure the car and determined that there was no way it was going through their machine. So they did a hand wash for the same price (9 folks were working that day, and 8 on the Prowler ). As they were drying off the Prowler out front, they were getting a ton of business, so they gave us a hand wax for free. So, we have had good luck with full service car washes with the Prowler. -Dan |

I prefer to use the CJ car wash while at events,,,,she does an excellent job on the Alley Cat and the price is always right, $0. : *********************************************************** CAUTION: Most people don't know that many car wash places, both self-serve and automatic, use recycled water from their drain systems to save on water costs! While I wash a lot at home with a hose, I find I often use just Mequiars Quick Detailer to polish the car if it's just a little dirty. Saves tons of time. |

I have always washed mine at home and I own four car washes that are at four of our gas outlets/c-stores. If you do use a carwash I would recommend only using a touchless wash that uses high water pressure. I have owned and operated several different types of washes and my experience is the even though a brissle or soft cloth wash washes better, there is potential for paint damage after numerous washes. Scrathes, swirls, etc. I do wash my and my wife's daily drivers in touchless washes occassionally in the winter months. I always run them through after a winter storm cause the touchless washes with the high water pressure do a great job of salt removal. The chemicals used in the soap of all washes is extremely harsh and can strip wax or polish only after 2 or 3 washes. |

Don't shoot me! Mine goes through a car wash 95% of the time. Most times a hand wash but sometimes through the automatic track system. |

Since we wash ours at home and have lots of vehicles, we converted our carport into a car wash and wax area. Feel free to use our facility.

People "wash" their cars??? I thought you just buy a new car when one gets dirty and throw the dirty one away. Washing a car!, what will people think of next? |
