Hi everyone, I have some questions about the factory trailer. Do they have "vin" numbers? Is there any sort of a title? Do you have to register it separately? I'm in CT and I realize that it may vary from state to state, but I just wanted to get familiar with the process. I may be interested in selling the purple trailer I am getting, but I have not made up my mind yet. I have no room for it and probably would not use it. I could also use the extra cash to help pay for the car itself(99' purple). If I do decide to part with it, I will let you all know. Also, the dealership has offered me a 5 year/ 50k mile total, extended warranty through Chrysler which sounds like it is basically bumper to bumper, for only $1960 with a $200 deductible. What do you guys think of that? |

quote: keep the trailer, YOU WILL REGRET SELLING IT, Buy the trailer stand from Larry Lord and store it standing up Do a search on the extended warranty. Some dealer was selling it for about $100 over cost. I have had my trailer for 6 years and think it is one of the best things I have bought for the car. ask questions or do a search and you will get an answer........maybe not the one you want if it is from Alley Cat or Ed Monahan....but you will get an answer |

If you plan to use your Prowler for any kind of overnight trip you will want to keep the trailer. They don't make them anymore so don't sell unless you are sure you won't use it. The trailer stand Larry Lord sells allows you to fit the car & trailer in one car spot in a garage. I even hav room for my garbage cans in the same side as my wife's SUV and a full size refrigerator taske up the other side. Try Causeway Chrysler in Covington, Louisianan for the extended warranty. They were beating everyone's deals a couple of years ago. I'd suggest you get a smaller than $200 deductable or Zero deductable. |

Thanks for the reply Marti. I have looked at the ad for the trailer stand and it is neat. The problem is that I have only a 7' ceiling in the garage and the overall length of the garage is not a full size. The Prowler will just fit in the space with a little bit of room to walk around. I could remove the hitch arm to compensate for the ceiling, but I really don't have the starage room in the garage. I could probably store it in a friends barn though... By the way, the garage is small but very cool. I just finished it with black and white checkered tile, an old gas pump, an old traffic light, and lots of neon lights and car memorabilia. It feels like a 50's diner. I will post a picture here when I get the car. |

Pantera: Several of us just got extended warranties for $50 over dealer cost through Bob Haisler at 1-800-824-1784. It's the Chrysler Max Care and sounds like it's a better deal than what you are looking at. Tami |

Wow, no one answered your questions. There is a sticker on the tongue of the trailer that has a VIN on it. Every state is different as far a a title. You have to have it weighed and they charge by the weight here in Ohio but there is not a title for it. Indiana has a title for trailers. I have no clue about Conn. You need to register it separately here, different type of plate for a trailer. |

Yes regestration is required in Conn as far as the trailer goes and you will need anyone of these, a certifacte of origin, or a title, or a bill and or the last regestration on the trailer, any of these should get you regestered, plus if you do have the old regestration VIN # and weight should be on there. toys |

I have agree with the others who advised against selling the trailer. I think you will be sorry in the long run. At any rate it is not something I would do hastily. Wait a while (I suggest a year) make sure you don't need it and then sell it. |

I would also advise against selling the trailer. We use ours a lot. My wife was opposed to my getting one, but thanks to the efforts of some folks here, they convinced her to reconsider. Now she is glad we have it. |

When I purchased my Y2K yellow earlier this year with it's trailer, the original owner/dealer had it registered as homebuilt and no VIN. I was very surprised, but a Texas Dept of Motor Vehicle search verified it. I still haven't been to the tax office to try moving it to my name......... |

If there is any way possible, keep the trailer for a year and give yourself some time to be able to use it. If you plan on doing any traveling with the cat (either Prowler events or on your own) you will be happy that you have it. They will never be produced again, so the only opportunity to replace it would be to find a used one. With no trunk space to speak of, it's a very handy thing to have. If you would ever decide to sell the car.......it would be of value to have the trailer. :0 ------------------ Classic/Beautiful - I'm referring to the Cat of course! |

Pantera, The trailer is as scarce as the hard top. I was one of the lucky member to purchase one of the last hard top. I am loving it, so much quieter, it's beautiful, and it's just complete the car. Of course, with the hard top on, I have no trunk space. YES, what trunk space?? If you decide to part with your trailer. I am interested. I understand the space issue. I know I will have an issue w/ the trailer too, if I own one. But I will deal with it later. My number is (408) 421-6181 if you decided to part. Charlie |

When you guys travel with your trailer, do you disconnect the trailer once you get to you destination? How do you make sure it doesn't get stolen? DO you chain it up? One of the guys I work with wants me to turn the trailer into a couch. I told him no way, If I did that I would be hunted down and killed by the Prowler club. |

I spoke with Bob Haisler and his price was in line with what the dealership here is quoting me(@$2000). If the car was a year newer It would have qualified for the cheaper warranty that is around $900. |

quote: When we have a Prowler event there is usually several trailers parked and locked together. As far as title, yes I have a title to mine and the numbers were on the label of the tongue, but I always thought the label under the trailer had the VIN on it. Since I went out and took pictures I might have been wrong. My label with the VIN was removed to polish the tongue I also removed the bolts that held the tongue to the frame and installed pins for quick removal when I was showing it. If you needed to remove the Tongue to stand up this would be a good way to make it a quick removal, and for those that think it might not be safe. I have pulled it probably 10,000 miles and at speed over 100 miles per hour with out a problem (115 MPH at Chelsea proving grounds) This message has been edited by WildCat on 11-18-2004 at 11:26 AM |

Pantera..........it depends on the event as to whether the trailer gets disconnected or not. If we are traveling from place to place vs. stay at one hotel the whole event, it stays connected. Otherwise, we've had up to five trailers locked together. I thought I had a picture of that, but I can't find it. We have a lock with a really long cable and other people hooked their cable through ours to connect more! We've never had a problem at the events with anyone messing with the trailers. Other times, we've had special parking areas with all the trailers parked in regular spaces. This message has been edited by CJ on 11-18-2004 at 03:01 PM |
