BuckNekkid made this photoshop, looks very cool: I thought he should add a flat black paint or grey primer and try to do the same on a black hiboy. Any comments or suggestions? |

I was just thinking, you could get away with using a stock black kat with those rims and tires and scuffing the paint with a scotch-brite pad. I saw a silver F-150 truck done that way in last year's L.A. Auto show, and it came out very nice, very "rustic" looking. |

No on the yellow. If it was black, I think it would look cool with the trailer. |

I think it looks good on the black, can't say much for the yellow. |

Well, this thread might draw a lot of "laugh" icons, but I will say this, at the risk of alienating the whole group... I think the red steel wheels on the photoshopped image look better than any other wheels I've seen on a Prowler yet, a great emphasis to the hot rod styling. Anybody done this in the real world yet??? Awhile back, somebody on the board was looking for a source for steel wheels... I'd put 'em on as replacements for the stock wheels without a second thought, wide whites and all. JMO. |

....a while back I was looking for steelies like the ones in the pix......talked to many manufacturers and no one had what I was looking for, but I was looking for 20's.....I had a vintage Kat scheme in mind at the time.....sorta changed plans now....but a RatKat would really fit what I am looking for as a driver....I intend on building a Kat to drive all the time and never wash it or wax it, just drive it winter and summer again like the Orange Kat a few years ago.....then when it gets rough, paint it another color.... |

I like the theme very much. I have some ideas of my own I am currently looking into. I think the idea of going back to the retro style wheels and tires is good. |

I like them both,,,,,,yellow one could use some flames. I don't see any front fenders,,,,,so no need for those curb feeler thingies like Ed wants to install on his stock cat, lol. |

I have no problem livin' in the 50's. The world was a better place back then I really like those wheels and tires. It contributes to accomplishing "the look" way more than any other single mod ever could. Here's a killer 31 Roadster pickup with the same general theme for some additional inspiration: |

Reminds me of my old '32 A-model 5-window. Full fenders. Top chopped 4 inches. Body channeled 4 inches. 57 Pontiac Tri-Power V-8. In 1957, I had never heard of a Rat-Rod. Didn't know it was a classic with all that old black primer. Most important to me was cover that ugly primer with some "Shiny" paint. Wish I still had that one. I still thing the 5-window was about the coolest body made. And I think the best "Mod", was to leave the full fenders on it. JMO. |

the blue 32 is nice, looks like it belongs,a prowler w/wide whitewalls doesnt.oh one thing you need to add to the prowler, wire wheels, dont forget the hood ornament and cub feelers and chrome mirrors, blue dot tailights.remove side panels,so you can see the engine, and huge pipes out the side.if anybody has the balls to put steelwheels and whitewalls.on their car please do, and i'll give you my address .please drive by so i can have a good laugh.thank god we live in the usa,so we can say things like that. ------------------ This message has been edited by jan bruggeman on 11-13-2004 at 12:22 PM |
