i was interested in hearing some opinions on where you guys think prowler prices will be in 5 years... i know lots can happen , but say if things stay at a steady course... do we believe that prowlers will increase in value from the original selling prices...or depreciate like all other vehicles...obviously the ones with low mileage will be the premium $..

how about value in 10 years when everybody else is driving electric ?

this subject has probably been beat up before but i've only been here for 3 months and wondered what everyone thought..

I bought the car for the enjoyment I get out of it, not as an investment or based on some future value. I am really not worried about what the value will be.

hey dave ,

i bought mine for all of the same reasons, but my question comes from a curious mind.... i have absolutley no intention of ever selling, actually i'm trying to figure out where i can get the $ to buy a second one! if i was interested in investing i'd go to the casino ! or perhaps buy enron shares... maybe nortel !

Personally my car will be worthless due to excessive mileage/multiple engines/too many modifictions.

I think in five years stock prowlers prices will be starting upward but still not over original sticker price. In ten years a low mileage stock Prowler will demand prices pushing what the earliest owners paid with the dealer markup.

It's been difficult to predict the value of the cats now and in the future. I think that as time goes on and the less new ones there are, the prices will go up. I still believe that stock cats will always bring more money, also. JMO

Ditto to all that Dave Mills stated....and after reading some of the posts over the past month...the real question is...what will a Prowler with a TGF hardtop be worth ????

Obviously, any low production car such as the prowler will go up in the future. How long is a guess. Less mileage and stock will bring in the most money.

I drive mine daily. I did not buy it to see it go up in value. I bought it because although I could drive a BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, or basically any other car on the market, but I like the fact that I have a car that no one else in the area has, but still has a warranty and is reliable to drive every day.

In 10 years, I will hopefully still have my prowler, and that's not because I will hope it goes up in value, but because I like the car so much.

And if in 5, 10, or even 20 years a low mileage stock prowler is worth $100,000, and I want a low mileage stock prowler, I would buy one if I had the money. For now, I will enjoy the car and worry about the future later.

The funny part is, in 5 years I see myself as having a Bentley and a Ferrari in the driveway, but the Prowler is still there as a stablemate.

Orange,
How about British Racing Green?
Halicat,
I echo Dave Mills' comments!
CJ,
Altho' what you say is probably true about resale of STOCK being higher than modified, since I'm not planning on reselling evil elf's ride--customizing has been fun! *~*
And, I haven't done anything to it which can't be reversed or removed!

While the amount of prowlers built seems like a low number, there have been many other interesting American and european vehicles built with numbers half or a fourth those numbers.

Almost all continue to go down in price for a great many years.

When a vehicle goes out of production, there is usually a reason. Not enough demand or in the case of the prowler, it always had a limited run. Of course, the arguement for the former could always be made too as there are still new untitled prowlers in dealerships and they are almost 3 years old (if a 2002 model).

As with anything else, it's supply and demand, if 10 years from now a whole bunch of folks want a prowler, yours may be worth more then what you paid for it.

Other then a limited edition Ferrari or the HV blue, I wouldn't start figuring out how much money you can make off this car in 10 to 20 years just yet.....

Compare to other cars in the up to 15000 production number +11000 Prowlers) , the prowler holds the price pretty good.
There will be cheaper Prowlers with + 50.000miles on the market in the near futur. If you have luck, you maybe find a cheap one. But they are rare at the moment. I payed for my 2001Prowler $22500 as an ex factory car.
The average price in the lower catagorie is
around $ 30000.-
I just got an offer for a chevy ssr, 4400miles for $30500 cash, and in autotrader.com you find them for 32500 at he moment. The ssr price dropps a lot faster than the Prowler price. Today the US Dollar is one 1Euro to 0.77Dollar, so $ 40.000 are only Euro 30800. Not to long ago the USD was higher rated than the Euro. Time to go USA-shopping for me again.....

I guess investing in any car these days could prove to be a coin toss years down the road....perhaps it goes up,and perhaps it does not.
I have it entirely for pleasure reasons...you only live once!Speaking of,the H2 should be arriving in the next few days(another depreciating investment)...

SSR is still in production and at numbers probably alot higher (buildwise) then the prowler. Price drop due to less then enthusiastic sales and of course, seriously bumping the HP up with next years model made huge discounts the norm for this years one....

ty........I'm not saying you shouldn't customize your cats.. I've done that also. However, everything I've done can easily be changed back to stock. Bob says that stock vehicles are historically always worth more. Modified cars are more difficult to sell, because you have to find just the right person who likes everything you've modified on the car.

I am the one saying to not modify it. There is no need to change perfection. You people are sacriligous changing the look of the Prowler. That is my story, I am sticking to it.

We never plan to sell ours, so we modified it to suit our taste. But CJ and others are right, stock cars are worth more in the long run. In fact if you spend a lot to modify like we did, you will probably never recover your investment. It's a personal choice.
