Here is the text I recieved via email. I have my car on Autotrader.com

hello ed,
I have been busy over here, that is why i am replying this late
Am still very much interested in the car and have been very busy here with my inlaw and it's been a long since i heard from you and am happy you havent sold the car because have always wanted to get that car for a longtime. And based on this price i think i will take it for that price because my husband advised me that such amount isnt too expensive for a prowler as long as it is clean and ok but the problem now is that i havent even seen it but have made an arrangement with my agent in spain to come down to the u.s and inspect the car for me.
Right now me and my family are in france,my husband is french. I will get intouch with my agent in spain as soon as possible because i want him to come down to the u.s and check the car for me and he will be the one to ship the car to our home in florida.
So,my agent will probably get intouch with you today or tomorrow and after i speak with him,i will let you know the present situation of things here in france and how the payment will be done because i dont want to risk the chance of losing that car .

Ed - sounds like they have talked with you before? The part I didn't like was them saying: "and how the payment will be done "

I think it would be you to tell them,,,how the payment will be done!!! Gene is right, once you have the green in your hands, only then release the car and title. Because her husband is French and they are in France now, I'd charge them an extra grand or two. We need to paydown our war debt because the French were against us.

Ed,
Do NOT take a cahiers check from them if you are in doubt. It could be a forgery. That is the latest scam. They have the car and you have a forged cashiers check. If in doubt have them meet you at your bank with cash or wire certified funds to your account.
Good luck.

I am aware of the cashiers check scam. I will ONLY accept certified funds deposited to my bank. I have never talked with them. I got an email inquiring about the car and asking me to reduce the price. I sent one back telling them the price is FIRM. They then replied with the email above accepting the price.

I think the poor grammar is intentional. I believe it is a scam. I was going to call the state police and report it to them and see if they want to set up a sting to help rid the world of these types of scum.

Ed

PS. If they turn out to be legitimate...I take back all that bad stuff I said about them! <BFG>

WE ONLY TAKE WIRE TRANSFERS TO OUR BANK, TO AN ACCOUNT THAT HAS LITTLE TO NO MONEY, WHEN YOU TELL THEM A WIRE TRANSFER IS THE ONLY YOU WILL TO THE DEAL THIS GETS RID OF THE SCAM PEOPLE. I KNOW OF MORE THAN ONE CASE OF FAKE CASHERS CHECKS, THEY ARE SO GOOD THAT EVEN THE BANK CAN NOT TELL.
WE GET THE PEOPLE THAT SAY THEY CAN NOT SPEAK AND YOU GET A CALL FROM AN INTERRUPTER, THEY ARE ALL SCAM PEOPLE ALSO!

Why is this considered a scam?

Do a wire transfer, and you are set!

Maybe the wire transfer is the details they want to talk to you about.

Gents,

I'm from The Netherlands and just bought an Inca Gold 2002
from a dealership in Roseville, Michigan.
FYI, I wired them the cash so that is not the issue.

However, there are not only decent people in the US.
Language can be a huge issue and as an international
European business man, that goes especially for the
Southern European countries like France, Spain, Italy etc.

Although I understand that appr. 35KUS$ is a bundle for
some, posting this adds without verification first makes
me sometimes looking up in ultimate dispair.
A little more consideration before jumping to conclusions
would not hurt.

Apologies if I offended some, it is not meant that way
at all but we are not all criminals in Europe.

Best regards,

Kees Engel
