quote: It is my understanding that depending on the event, Some will allow them some won't. Check with the promotor in the area you plan on attending before you head out. I was at the Indy event in `99 but 00 chrysler pulled out of sponsorship and vipers and prowlers were excluded because of the year of the vehicle (pre `64 show, pre `72 race here in indy) |

I would like to explain that Prowlers are not welcome at Goodguys Events except the (Get Togethers)where any car can come. I wrote them several emails because I heard they where going to open up their events to Late model limited production cars such as Prowlers, Vipers, Corvettes, Etc. They told me that they would never open it up to non street rods. I have been a street rodder for 30 years or more and I was embarrassed for what they said. Street rodding is not about what year car you have, it's about your state of mind! Maybe I'm a dinosaur but I can respect the kid that puts his heart into building his Civic into a Crotch Rocket. What happened to doing your own thing! Have we lost the essence of street rodding? I think the guy that builds or personalizes his own car has more pride for his car than the typical Boyd Cottington type guy that just dumps tons of money into a show car that NEVER gets driven! I ended my membership in Goodguys because they are doing the same thing the National Street Rod Association did. I now have a 56 Austin Healey and hope to have a prowler this summer, I go to rod runs that are not associated with these two organizations. Send Gary Mendor at Goodguy a letter and tell him this is not right! |

I´m a member of the Goodguys Rod & Custom organisation, and the European Street Rod Association . I think the Goodguys do a GOOD job. They have some events in CA thats open to all or all-american cars. Many events have a cut up year . I was last year in Louisville at the NSRA pre 49 Nats. There where over 11000 pre 49 Street Rods on the fairground. There was no room for other years and makes. If you look to the Goodguys West Coast Nats with pre 54", they are packed, full of nice Rod & Customs. ( by the way , its one of the nicest Rod Events in the USA) If I want to play on stages like this I ride with my 34" Ford Street Rod and this is a modified pre-1949 car. My Prowler is a super headturner and a good stress free alternative to the Street Rods. I drive it to many US Car meetings that have no cut-up Year. By the way... the Turkey Rod Run in Daytona Beach has a special Prowler Class. This Event is big, the swap meet is a lot bigger than Pomona,CA. Street Rods, Customs, Muscle Cars and Prowler cruise every Nov. at the speedway, and around town. Greetings , "Condor" |

Goodguys in Pleasanton California has 4 or 5 shows a year and Prowlers are welcome at 3 of them and we are encourged to attend. |
