I am purchasing a new 2001 prowler from the dealer. The 3 year or 36,000 mile warranty starts when I pick the prowler, also this prowler has the 70,000 mile/7 year warranty Did all 2001 prowlers have the 70,000 mile/7year warranty? When did Chrysler start the 70,000 mile/ 7 year warranty? (This is the powertrain warranty)

Welcome from another Michigander. Yes, all the 2001 had the 70,000/7 year warranty and they started it about a year and a half ago.

I live in Rochester Hills and I hope you will be interested in getting together with the other Michigan owners. Hope you are considering the Canada event this year. We like to get cat-a-van together with other owners to the events!!!

I think the 7/70 started on 01's purchased on or after Nov 1. We were negotiating our deal and our check got to him on the day DC announced the 7/70. I might be a month off but I do know we were fortunate that the mail took one day longer to arrive.

Hey CJ,

I'm finishing up the purchase of a 2001 orange this week, and the dealer said the 7/70 is not included. However, I do get the 3/36 when I purchase the car because it is new.

My question is: do I get the 7/70 if I buy a new 2001 today regardless of what the dealer says? I don't think he's lying or anything, he might be misinformed (small town dealer).

Thanks for the info and help.

Congrats on your new ride! What color did you get? I am from Sag. city, I left in 1981 for CA. I have a Candyred and matching trailer. The car is a blast to drive...I was lucky in 2002, I got the 100K/7year-Home for the holidays.

....unbelievable. I never knew that. My car was titled a few months before Nov.1 2001 by the dealer...

So I missed 4 more years of bumper to bumper coverage, or is the remaining 4 years less comprehensive?

Blk/Tie - I don't think the 7yr/70,000 mile warranty was 'bumper to bumper'. Powertrain warranty after the 3/36. Our '01 orange has the 7/70,000 plus the original owner added the Maximum Care extended warranty to 7 year or 100,000 miles,,,,,,,,,,,,,,for an additional $2,490.00.

We transferred his warranties with DC to our names for $150.00.

Thanks for clearing that up AC!

I have the extended warranty as well, so I guess I still paid about $1,500 more than I should have, as DC included it free after NOv. 1 2001?

Oh well, at least it wasn't the bumper to bumper warranty going to 7 years..I would have been upset to miss out on that deal! :D
