Just became the proud owner of a 2001 Silver Prowler with 8k miles on it. Or I will be the owner when I pick it up in a couple of weeks. Drove it for the first time today and you still couldn't wipe the smile off my face. What a great car to drive. Visibility limited, cramped cockpit, WHO CARES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Talk about fun to drive. It's like having an E ticket at Disneyworld. What a great blend of old and new, and, you never have to worry about getting home like you do with an classic car.
I 'm bring it home in a couple of weeks and I concerned about the road salt we have in Illinois. I will only be driving it about 30 miles to my house. Is aluminum corrosion a problem with these cars? I will get it detailed and have the undercarriage detailed A.S.A.P, but you never know when I will get a chance to do it with Chicago weather. It will be storage it in my garage for the next three months. Any advise ? Jack Stands, stabilizer, etc.? This is gonna kill me until I can drive it again.
What would be the first modification you would suggest? Suspension bracing?
Great forum, will be on here constantly. Time to make my donation.

Congrats on the silver cat. I would go with the ceramic brake pads and mud flaps first. I put on Jay's SSS muffler, love the sound. It just keeps getting better, enjoy the ride. Now everyone else will add on to the list. sandy g.

Congratulations!!!

Where is the car now? How will it be coming in two weeks? Do you want to get it sooner? We can use my enclosed trailer to bring her home.

The car is in the southern suburbs of Chicago. It will take a couple of weeks to get the warranty and all the paperwork in order. Thanks much for the offer. The generosity already on this site is overwhelming. But seeing that I only have 30 miles to drive, and West Frankfort is near St. Louis, I think that would be major overkill, I think I'll be able to pick my day to drive it home.
With all the excitement of the day I totally forgot it is New Years Eve.

Happy New Years to everyone!

The car has mudflaps on it, but the passenger side flap is missing. I'll order them this week. Do you have rear mudflaps also?

Congradulations on your new purchase

if there is a lot of salt on the road you might want to have a roll back pick it up and deliver it to your house, or wash it once you get it home and clean the bottom.

There are some that have driven in the snow and no effect, but I'm one that hates SALT.

have fun with the new ride. I noticed some oxidation on my rear frame and undercarriage and I dont drive in the wet so the car is prone to surface corrosion. Do what Larry says and hose it off.

If you go with rear mudflaps, go with REAL MUDFLAPS:

I consider the Mopars to just be mounting tabs for real flaps. If you want them to be functional, you need to bolt on some REAL truck flaps. All the original Mopars do is protect the space above the bumper, the first time over a wet road your whole rear will get sprayed from the vacuum it creates. Besides, it provides "a canvas to express your creativity", such as the cute little kitties show.

Congrats on the new Prowler.

My best advise to you is don't pay attention to anything I post. If you are worried about driving your new pride & joy 30 miles home, my advise would drive you absolutely crazy. I'm closing in on 70,000 miles and use mine as a daily driver regardless of weather.

I hope you enjoy your new kat and are ready to do a lot of smiling! DRiving your Prolwer willthe second most fun thing you can do in a car!

Gene - I can say with absolute certainty that my gas cap is still original. I would have to research any other part to be sure!

Marty,
Like I said I'm anal. Had 7 boats, wore out my arm just waxing them. The 40 footer was a sob to keep clean. I noticed you are from Kentucky. Have you ever been to Chicago in the winter? It's like one giant salt lick. We spread salt on the street when there's only a 10% chance of snow. I have a black Ram truck and I could wash it every other day up here. In the winter it looks gray more than Black.
