Well my beautuful yellow 2000 Prowler with 2300 miles on her is gone. Although I really loved the looks of this car the decision to let her go was partly because I needed room for a new car coming in and the fact that the Prowler never had enough power for me. If it had 350HP or something that really made it go as good as it looked I might have kept it. Still I hope to check this site now and again. you guys have been helpful during my ownership. Good Luck to you all! Fred |

Fred.........sorry to hear that you are leaving the Prowler community. We all would probably prefer that the Prowler had a bigger engine in it, but I think most of us would agree that the car is not just about the car....it is about all the friends we have made and the great times and memories we have made because of it. Good Luck and we hope that you will continue to check back with us every once in a while! |

Fred---Sorry to hear of your loss!!!Time heals all wounds. Hang in there, remember the good times you've had together. I just bought another one (blue) this week. I don't buy them for the speed. They look real sharp, are fun to drive. Its the only car production car you can really modify without making it look tacky. I've had fun modifing my 2002 Candy 18 Mods so far! When i want to go fast, i jump in my Jaguars S-Type-R its a 390 HP Rocket, or my XKR is 380 HP.I'm hoping for a 2004 Viper in spring if i can get one at a reasonable price. I'm going to add Gears to my new blue one, (see how it goes). Guy who had it won it in a auction, didn't want it traded it in on a Mercedes. Hope in a yr or so you get another, you'll miss her!!LOL ------------------ |

Hey CT Prowler: I had the new SRT10 Viper but did not like it. Kept the 2001 Viper GTS (1800 miles) with 450 HP and now have a 500HP Mercedes S55 (512lbs/ft torque) Next addition will either be the new Lamborghini Gallardo (500hp AWD V10)due in October or the Bentley Continental GT due out first of the year with a V12, 525HP and AWD. So many incredable cars coming out makes it exciting for us "car nuts"! PS.. My yellow Prowler was listed on EBAY with some great pictures. Salesman,s name is Jerry and he is a good guy. thanks to others for the kind words. Fred |

I can relate with you Fred. I wish the Prowler had more power as well. New cars have soooo much power. I was just reading about the Mercedes S65 604hp and over 700lbft of torque. This is getting crazy. I remember when 0 to 60 in 5 seconds was flying... now Nissan Altimas with the V-6 run in 5's... Good luck with your next purchase what ever it is. Stop back by here from time to time to say hi. Frank ------------------ |

Hey Frank: You right about there being more cars out there that can go 0-60 in about 5 seconds. Today you need to have a machine that can do it in about 4-4.5 seconds. My S55 will do it in about 4.6 and my Viper about 4.2. The new Viper RT10 with about 500HP is good for about a 4 second run I have been told. Can't wait to try the new Lamborghini with the 500HP V10. They say its a fast at the Murcielago up to about 60 or 70 but is about $100000 less. Wow! |

Hello, Fred A SL55 AMG is a nice and perfect Car, we have one in the Family. It is a "open" Version and runīs over 190mph on the German Autobahn. The reason why I just bought a prowler is , Iīm a Hot Rod Guy and its the only factory Roadster that fits in the US car / Custom Car and Hot Rod scene. When I cruise around Frankfurt/Germany you see lot, lot , lots of new SLīs and other Sportscars. But there is no Prowler in Town. I will write some infos when my prowler arrives in Sept. in Germany. Hey Condor: I bought the S55 AMG 4 door Sedan. It is great! Sounds like you are going to get a lot of attention when your Prowler comes home. Good luck and let us know how it goes when you drive it around town. |

Fred - I hope you like your new car(s). It sounds like you really enjoy your cars. If you find yourself missing your Prowler in the near future, maybe you should consider getting another one and adding a supercharger or other performance items. Good luck ------------------ |

Fred if you have that kind of money for those high end cars, Prowler money is chump change. Build yourself another garage, it won't cost as much as one of those cars. I just ordered a Cover-it portable garage to set next to my separate garage to put all my Lawn mowers ATV's and kids stuff in so i have room for my Cars in my garages. $800 is a nite out for dinner with friends!!Especially yours !!When you think about it where can you buy a car as much fun for around $36000. ------------------ |

Hey CTProwler: You are a funny guy. Sound like you really like your Prowler. They are a lot of fun but, once you feel the rush of 500-550 Hp and over 500lb/ft torque slamming you back into your seat its all over. Wow what a ride. Next year Mercedes introduces the C65. A two door coupe with a V12 producing 612HP. Yes, that was not a typo, 612HP and the suspension to match it. My main focus though is the Bentley GT Coupe with the V12, 525HP, over 600lbs/ft torque and......AWD. Drop dead Bentley Gorgeous in and out( this is not your fathers Bentley)and it will be here in the US by first of the year. If you are getting the idea that I like to travel faast you are right. I also fly an aircraft that cruises at 340MPH but... not on the Interstate! |

Fred---I like to go fast to! Only problem is speeding tickets.I had to go to driving school over a year ago. If you get 3 tickets in 3 yrs in CT you have to go. I haven't had one in over 18 months now. I even have to watch out on the water, 45 MPH limit on Candlewood Lake In CT. That goes on your record also. Yes i can be a funny Guy! At my size you better have one or you'll be fighting all the time. My Jaguar XKR is what I consider expensive $85000 MSRP, but it doesn't compare to the Exotic cars your talking about. I can't imagine the Property taxes, insurance, and repair bills on those cars! If i had your money, i guess i'd buy a Jet also!!LOL The prowlers are more of a Hobby, like Golf, Boating, something to do, to get your mind of work. I Have enjoyed this site and the varity of people it offers. Young and old, rich and no so rich. I've seen a Aston Martin around town, over $200000 car people don't even turn their heads? A Prowler! Thats another story. Have fun, I wouldn't mind being in your shoes for a week or Two, And i wasn't being funny about Daytona!! ------------------ |

Spoons: The Gallardo, baby Lambo, does not arrive here until October. A bunch have been presold and I am sure there is going to be a lot of price gouging initially. I can,t wait to give it a good test drive to see if its the real deal. CTProwler: what year is your XJR? I always liked that model and almost bought one. I drove the new Aluminum XJ8 the other day and thought it was great. The new body style is pure Jag. The new XJR just arrived and my dealer invited me down to try it out. It has 20 Hp more than last years model I was told. I think it is up to 390 now. My main concern with the new Jag is if you damage the body (aluminum) they cannot send the car to just any body shop. It has to go to one that has been trained to work with Aluminum and there are not a lot of them out there. Car could have to go out of town and I think Jag will give you a loaner while the car is still on Warranty even though they do not have to. I was told that more and more repair shops are being approved to work on the Aluminum body. |

I have a 2003 S-Type-R 4 Door Sedan--(Wifes Car)Its close to 400 HP. Its very quick, Has 18 inch wheels, Brembo brakes,Handles great,Sharp Car. I also have a 2001 XKR Red Conv, Its supercharged also. I swapped my 1999 XK8 conv on the 2001 Mulholland because it didn't have the HP of the other two. I bought the 2001 XKR with the intention of selling the 1999. I prefer the S-Type Body style over the old style. I need a 4 door with the Kids. I do have a Ford F-150 Supercrew Cab, i can fit them in also. I always wanted a Lambo, since i was a Kid, but after sitting in them, its not made for me. Can't see buying such an expensive Car, I just Bought a Baja Outlaw 2 months ago, so i have something fast on water!!My buddy Tom Santella does gunite Pools. When I told him the size pool i wanted he said around $150000 to $200000, i said forget it i'll buy a boat if i don't use it at least i can sell it. Its also was cheaper buyin a Boat and a Kat!!To many great new Cars out there, to little fun money to buy them. ------------------ |

CT: One of the most beautiful body styles to me is the XK series Coupe. In Florida the convertible sells better by 10 to 1 but I love that fast back Coupe look. While we are talking about Jaguar let me tell of you my disappointing experience driving a new Aston Martin Vanquish. First of all let me say that the look (outside) of the car really blew me away. The 2003, in Silver was just gorgeous with its curves and lines. I could have bought it right there without even driving it. In fact when the Dealer let me hit the big red 'Start" button right there on the showroom floor the hair on the back of my head stood up. There was this deep throated vroooom and growl from the engine. IT was exciting to hear. I held my self together and new I HAD to drive this car. I am getting a little ahead of myself, must be getting excited just thinking about this but when I was in the car and looked around a little it kinda looked....plain. Yes there was a little brushed aluminum here and there but there was also a Climate Control panel right out of the Jaguar parts bin and it did not even match the color of the rest of the dash panel. I also spotted a few other switches, knobs from Jaguar. Was not happy about that especially with a MSRP of about $245K. Anyway, I found another dealer who had a demo! I could not believe it. I went to his location 2 days later and it was the same beautiful Silver. Man I could not wait. I climb in the beast, my heart beating a little quicker now, and ease out into the traffic. Don,t want to dent this this baby especially with its Aluminum doors and other Carbon Fibre parts. Now this car has the F1 paddle shifters plus an Automatic mode and about 400HP. I start to accelerate and take a quick snap of the right paddle to upshift to second when I get this real noticable lag before it shifts up. Kind of like the tranny could not keep up with the engine. The Dealer tells me you have to back off of the gas pedal just a split second before you shift to get a quick, no lag shift. He says it takes some practice. So here I go down the road lurching and stumbling trying to get this right and not looking like Schumacher if you know what I mean. When I finally nail it I am not overly impressed by the response. Acceleration was OK but I do not think the 400HP is enough for the weight of the car. It handled OK but I did not get to give it a good test. So I give up on getting a smooth shift and figure I can save face by putting the old girl in Auto and let it do it. Well, the same, although slightly less, lag is still there. $245K..no way. I noticed on the 03 model they did change the look of that Climate Control panel to match the rest of the interior. It has that brushed Aluminum look. I also saw a report in one of the Auto Mags that the people who actually build the car (non Ford types) want more Aston and less Jag in their car. Right now I would take a pretty Silver XKR Coupe and keep the $150K change. Hey that would be just enough to bring the new Lambo home! 2 cars for the price of the Aston. No contest. |

Hello, Fred2 The Aston Martin is a nice , very british car with a little bit understatement , but not the money worth. Even as a collector car I would choose something different. A friend of me tradet one in. I sat in the new Lambo Gallardo last week. It will be a good seller on the sport car market. The Gallardo is more AUDI engeneering, so the car willperform good on the Autobahn and on our nice Mountian Roads. (... we see Ferraris + other exotics with blown engines on the autobahn if they go fast over a long time )Big Limos like Mercedes, BMW , Audi are the cars you see here in Germany usually drive faston the " Highway" , Porsche is the best Street Sport Car.) You are more into fast Cars. Were do you drive fast in the USA. I like the american way of driving , it is more my thing , incl. American Cars. (relaxed Cruising). If I drive on the German Autobahn 180mph it gets very strenuous. Even a small highway curve can be dangerous and if a other car swiches in your lane that drives only 90mph , than you are in big trouble. But , we can still drive with no speed limmit on some Autobahn parts , you dont. I dont want to know how expensive a 190mph speed ticket in Florida is. The very good thing in the USA is that you have a lot more Race tracks were you can test your car safe. But , at the US highway speed it makes no difference if you drive a PROWLER or a Ferrari, your cruising speed will be the same. The diffenence is the style of driving. My next Car that I have in my mind will be a all steel 1932 Ford Convertible , nostalgia look with a new 502TPI, 4WDB...) Classic Cars, Sport/Exotic Cars are Image Toys , ENJOY THEM ,LIVE IS SHORT ! |

Hi Condor: Your right. Not too many places where we can really get the full use of the cars we own however we can "sample" them. A little 0-60 blast here and there or a quick run up to 120 or 130 after first checking the highway both ways for Smokeys and traffic. I would love to get on the track but not easily available to me where I live. So we can only imagine what they must really be capable of. Your right when you say high speed driving is very stressful over there in Europe. My brother was in Germany for business and was told to follow his counterpart on a run to an adjoining country. (can,t remember) They were in BMW,s and the guy my brother was following was doing 120+ and there was a light rain falling. He said that it took a lot out of him to stay with this guy and was very relieved when they got to their destination. My brother said that he NEVER wanted to do that again. He even had passengers in his car. Our Mother and Father! Yipes. |
