When you park your car in the garage for a couple of weeks, do you put the top up or down? (I'm not talking about any storage/long period of time, just when you know you won't be using the car for 2 or 3 weeks.) Thanks Kimo |

I leave mine down all the time, winter included. When I'm really going to give it a big through wash I put it up and then leave it up for a day or two to dry completely. It seems no worse for wear. JRL |

Mine's is always up. i had the new car smell in it for 3 years and when it was down, the whole garage had the new car smell. Thats now gone but i have it up anyway. And I keep a cover on it. I like the idea of leaving the latches loose. |

Always down but I keep car cover on in garage. One reason is my car cover has a fleece lining and it sticks to top and makes a mess to clean off.I know they make covers that don't do this but I don't see a need to buy a new cover. |

My kat has never sat for two weeks until I took it to Wisconsin in Mid March to have new engine installed. I have been on business trips for up to 12 days and frankly never gave thought to puting top up or down in the garage. If its 60 degrees and not raining the top is usually down when driving. Whatever position the top is when I arrive home is how it stays in the garage. When I leave the next time, I put it up or down depending on the weather. |

I leave mine up when the kat is not in use. I also leave the top fastened at both ends. |

For more than 2or 3 days always up. If overnight however it is when I put it in the garage. |

I usually keep the top up ,latched in front only, for extended time to keep interior clean and hopefully keep the new car smell in longer. |

I agree with Rich, the path of least resistance. Sometimes the hard top, sometimes the soft top, sometimes topless. |

During my driving season, the top is usually always down, so I leave it in the garage that way, regardless of how long it sits. If I know I'm not going to drive it for a week or so, I will leave it down, but I do put the car cover on to keep the garage dust out! |

Keep it down with the cover over the car. |

quote: Dave, you might want to release the top when stored for long period...you don't want me to have to explain the towing would you....LOL If I drive the car in and the top is down, (as it is right now) it stays down, If the top is up it stays up. For the winter it is up but not latched so the fabric does not have tension on it (the trim guy doing the dart recommends doing it this way too) ------------------ |

....same here....what ever position the top is in when I put it in the garage.....but it has spent most of the time the last 2 years sitting on the street so the top is usually up and latched......keeps the raccoons out |

I worry about creasing the top when stored too long stowed. I think it's good to put the top up once in a while to let it breathe and get any moisture out....I fear a top stowed too long can get musty/ moldy? |

Shop is getting full so I park it with the top down so I can store extra stuff in it. |
