If I bought my Prowler "used" from the Chrysler dealership,
purchased in Sept.2002 with 364 miles, am I still entitled to any remaining factory warranty ? It's a 2001 model.

They told me at the dealership when I got my 99 last summer, that the warranty is based on the build date. You can find that on the door.

I took them at their word...can anyone else verify that this is the case?

Duane - yes, you are entitled to the remainder of the original 3 year/ 36,000 mile warranty,,,,,plus you can buy an extended warranty up to seven years from DC. Several plans available, with different mileage choices and deductibles. I highly recommend due to the high prices of replacement parts.

Not true - its the in service date (original retail purchase date) that is the determining factor in regards to date. The vehicle could have been a 1999 but not sold until 2000 or later,,,,thus starting the 36months/36,000 miles warranty.
That clear the air?

Build date is on the lower inside section of the driver's door.

I bought my 02 new in September. I called the dealer this past Friday and they first told me that I didn't buy it there. Then they told me (after I got a bit bent) that they couldn't work on it. The only good thing about this is that there is a trained mechanic at a dealership that's very close to me now. Hopefully all of my little issues can be fixed.

AC is correct- the 3 year 36,000 mile period starts with the inservice date. My 2000 Black was first sold in Sept 2000 so the time would expire in Sept 2003 (I hit the 36,000 mile mark in June of 2002) The factory warranty is vehicle specific, not owner specific.

Only Certified Prowler Techs may perform warranty work. Once my service dealer lost their Prowler Tech, I had to find another dealer to do warranty work.

It is definitely car specific and starts at the original date of purchase. I bought my Prowler used in October, checked the build date and it was August 00. I was concerned about the same as Duane and called the local dealer. He got back it wasn't put in service until January 02 and I still had 2 yrs left.

Marty - What tech are you using?

I went back and checked via Carfax on my cars in service date.

It was 3/99 and my build date is 12/98. Either way...no warranty for me. I've had over $3K worth of work done to it so far, all of which could have been warranty.

Finding out the dealership misinformed me pissed me off...but I'm calm now, knowing that it didn't matter either way since I didn't get it till 7/02.

T,
You might try submitting your invoices to Chrysler for reimbursement. Also, how do you check car fax ?

If you go to www.carfax.com and put in your vin #.

You can pay $19.99 and get unlimited reports or $14.99 for one.
I just did the one. Has listed every time the car was titled and how many miles it had at the time. Any major damage will be listed there as well. I got mine because of transmission problems I was having. I wanted to see if it had a history before my purchase.
