I have decided to buy a Prowler! Can anyone give me their best opinion on the best method to use? How do I locate one? Should I buy from a dealer or private party? Your help is appreciated! |

do lots and lots of research. ask a lot of questions. I was lucky enought to have a local dealer that would work with me on price when I bought my first one. three years ago, I thought I was lucky to find a new one for window sticker. the one I have now,(a 2001). I bought at a fall specialty car auction. though a local used car dealer (my brother). I was able to get it for 32 thou. had 4000 mi. Do lot's of shopping. watch the auctions on E-Bay. You should be able to decide what one would be worth to you. I hope you find one that is perfect for you. You should have a lot of wonderful days ahead the best looking automobile ever built. |

Sorry, I just couldn't help myself. Seriously, I bought mine on EBAY last year. It had only 900 miles and except for a teeny bottom of the nose scratch which most of them have, it was a perfect 900 mile car. The point here is that there are a bunch out there and you should be able to get which year and color you want. If you don't know there is a difference in the MY2000 and above. Slightly higher ride height, less stiff ride, trip computer and a couple of other differences. 2002 Yellows seems to be the most expensive, at least on Ebay. Again, sorry for the pun above, had to do it. JRL |

If you want a modified Kat look in the classifieds at the "Howler Prowler", it's quite nice and if the price is fair you might want to consider one like that one. JRL |

If you decide on a new one from a dealer, check with CJ. She might be able to help locate a dealer/color close to you and get you a Friends and Family discount to boot. |

You have some decisions to make... (1) What year car do you want?... These links will help: (2) How much do you want to spend? Used ones range from lower/mid 20's to mid 30's. New ones range from upper 30's to mid 40's. (Don't pay retail). There are several (approx 200) available on http://www.autotrader.com. There are still new ones available at some dealers (2 or 3 hundresd or so). Tell us what color(s) and year you want. We have eyes all over the U.S. and we can tell you lot about where the cars are located if you tell us what you want. If you buy used, make sure you are buying from the origianl owner. Correct me if I am wrong, someone, but the warranty can only be transferred by the original owner. The transfer is not automatic... the warranty provider must be notified of the transfer. My 2002 came with a 7-year 100k mile warranty. Something else to consider is "Do you want a trailer?" I believe there are still a very few new trailers available (only a couple dozen or so)... After you order a trailer from Chrysler, the trailer is painted to match your car. This is a serious question, because the prowler has no room to carry luggage. If you don't get a trailer, I still suggest having a hitch installed, so that you will have the option of buying a trailer later or installing a hitch-compatible luggage rack. Welcome to the club... Keep your questions coming.... ------------------ |

Thanks everyone who has replied to my request! I have been on line all day doing my research. One thing is for sure. The prices for comparable models seems to be all over the board. How come there is not a blue book figure for Prowlers? |

John - prices are all over the board,,,,because there are many cats out there that have been owned and driven in many ways. Rental car cats are usually rats,,,,driven hard, doors slammed, CD's jammed, holes in the top, etc. Cats with more than two owners in a short time,,,are not usually been well cared for. I'd look for low mileage, well cared for, one owner, and never cracked in a major accident. If you buy just by price alone,,,,you could get burned. A car is worth what it will bring in cash,,,,today. Good luck |

different prices in different markets. Blue book doesn't count because there are too few Kats out there. |

John.......... I have a list of all the new Prowlers available for the country. If you have a specific color in mind and region, email me at Only1CJ@comcast.net and I can give you a list of the dealers who have what you are looking for. If you buy new, the Chrysler Prowlers qualify for the Friends and Family program which allows you to buy the car for 1% under Dealer invoice. Dealers are not obligated to honor this program, but if you can find one who will, it's a great deal! We've had several POA members purchase their Prowler with this program. Again, you can email me for more details or call me at 248.650.3321 EST (after 6:00 pm tomorrow). ------------------ Classic/Beautiful - I'm referring to the Cat of course! |

AC. Don't make a blanket statement that any two owner car would be crap. If I put mine up for sale the new owner would be the 3rd. I bought mone with 900 miles on it and now has under 3K and is maintained as well or better as anyone's here, and is PERFECT,no chips, never seen rain, etc. JRL |

All tips above are great. One I'd like to add - Keep checking the Classifieds here on POA and respond to those who say they may be selling. Those on POA have treated their Kats with care and most had done the necessary modifications needed. Best of luck and keep us posted on your search! ------------------ |

As opposed to posting to a thread in the FREE CLASSIFIED FORUM, where people are trying to sell their products "for sale",,,,,,and then having other people who would post negative, unsolicited opinions of the item being sold. |

Many in Vegas, Phx, and LA area. Several more were shipped from Phx to Denver rental agency. OK, maybe 100? I wouldn't want to get one of those. |

I have seen several brand NEW Kat's severely abused by the dealership's that owned them. These cars simply do not like being left out in the rain, much like a real Kat. |
