CJ can help you find the color you want in a new car, if it is still available.

ebay and other auto magizines are a good source

many are able to buy NEW cars in the $35~38K range

used seems to hold in the low to mid 30's

(2) How much do you want to spend? Used ones range from lower/mid 20's to mid 30's. New ones range from upper 30's to mid 40's. (Don't pay retail).

There are several (approx 200) available on http://www.autotrader.com. There are still new ones available at some dealers (2 or 3 hundresd or so).

Tell us what color(s) and year you want. We have eyes all over the U.S. and we can tell you lot about where the cars are located if you tell us what you want.

If you buy used, make sure you are buying from the origianl owner. Correct me if I am wrong, someone, but the warranty can only be transferred by the original owner. The transfer is not automatic... the warranty provider must be notified of the transfer. My 2002 came with a 7-year 100k mile warranty.

Something else to consider is "Do you want a trailer?" I believe there are still a very few new trailers available (only a couple dozen or so)... After you order a trailer from Chrysler, the trailer is painted to match your car. This is a serious question, because the prowler has no room to carry luggage. If you don't get a trailer, I still suggest having a hitch installed, so that you will have the option of buying a trailer later or installing a hitch-compatible luggage rack.

One thing is for sure. The prices for comparable models seems to be all over the board. How come there is not a blue book figure for Prowlers?

I'd look for low mileage, well cared for, one owner, and never cracked in a major accident. If you buy just by price alone,,,,you could get burned. A car is worth what it will bring in cash,,,,today.

I have a list of all the new Prowlers available for the country. If you have a specific color in mind and region, email me at Only1CJ@comcast.net and I can give you a list of the dealers who have what you are looking for.

If you buy new, the Chrysler Prowlers qualify for the Friends and Family program which allows you to buy the car for 1% under Dealer invoice. Dealers are not obligated to honor this program, but if you can find one who will, it's a great deal! We've had several POA members purchase their Prowler with this program. I wouldn't describe the second sentence as a blanket statement for a piece of crap! I'll stand on the first sentence though,,,,,I work directly across from Adessa Phoenix Auction, where there are 3 to 5,000 cars per week going through the ring. Most are one, two, or three year old rental cars coming from all over the western third of the U.S., from all of the major rental car agencies. 85% of these rental cars are "crap" when they get there. Adessa has a production line of reconditioning staff workers that makes these cars "look new again" before going before the auction to wholesalers. "Looking new again" and being in a well cared for mechanical condition, are two very different realms of reality. I'm glad that you got a nice Prowler from an original owner and that you take excellent care of your cat! Kudos for you.

BTW - John C. who started this thread,,,,"asked people" to express their opinions on how to best buy a Prowler. I gave my opinion, as he asked for.

As opposed to posting to a thread in the FREE CLASSIFIED FORUM, where people are trying to sell their products "for sale",,,,,,and then having other people who would post negative, unsolicited opinions of the item being sold.
