I never was a big Chrysler fan so I haven't had too many of them but in 1964 I bought a used, low mile 1963 Plymouth Belvedere 2 dr. post sedan with a 383 cu.in. 4bll tourqueflight, (drag racer). It was a really puke blue/green, had jacked up torsion bars etc. I remember it was a decent car and didn't give me much trouble at all and I remember that the build quality really wasn't bad at all. But I do remember it had no brakes whatsoever and it had the numbest power steering I had ever felt, before and since. JRL |

I actually have two firsts. I have never owned a Chrysler, but I have had many Plymouths. My first Plymouth was actually given to me by my Grandfather in 1969. It was a 1951 Plymouth Cambridge Club Coupe. It had 16000 miles on it when I got it and I used it to drive to college at Virginia Tech for two years. It took a pounding on Interstate 81 at 65 miles an hour for the 7 hour trip to school. I still have the car and this is how it looks today after total restoration. The odometer now reads a little over 47,000 miles. The first Plymouth that I actually bought was in December of 1971 and was this 1971 Plymouth Duster 340. It was a big step up from the '51! Unfortunately the demands of a new family resulted in the sale of this car in 1975. I traded it to purchase the 1975 Duster we currently own. The first Plymouth was the Model Q which Chrysler called a 1929 Model but has been accepted today by auto enthusiasts as a 1928 to distinguish it from the Model U that Chrysler actually built for the 1929 model year. This example is the two door sedan that I purchased in 1987 and is badged as a Chrysler Plymouth. Plymouth did not become a separate model until the production of the "U". This car was built in June of 1928 and is thought to be the oldest surviving two-door sedan by the Plymouth Club.

Is he looking for chrysler only, or will dodge work? It's not too clear. |

1969 Dodge Dart with a 340 and a 4 spd with a posi. Really a quick little car, but the shifter was terrible. Frequently locked up between 2nd and 3rd. Lost more races that way. Bought it in 1972 and sold it in 1974. |

My first Chrysler product was also the first car that I owned. It was in 1964 and it was a 1956 Dodge Custom Royal 4DR Sedan. I purchased it with money I earned delivering newspapers after school and weekends. It had tri-tone paint. Matador red, metallic grey, and white. I later painted it black because the red and grey faded so badly. I had this car until 1967 when I gave it to my sister. While I was Vietnam I ordered an 67 Dodge Coronet R/T, 440 with 375 HP. It was waiting for me when I got home. I kept that car until 1972 and replaced it with a Dodge Dart which I drove until 1976. My oldest Chrysler product was an 1939 Dodge Coupe which I partially restored when I was 23 years old. At the same time I also had a 1940 Plymouth Opera Coupe which I just drove around as is. It was in pretty good original conditon. I paid $300 for it. After trading in the Dart the only Chrysler vehicles I've owned were an 1968 Dodge Dart purchased used in 1981 and an 1979 Dodge Passenger Van which we bought used in 1985. We now have a 99 Prowler, and 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi and as soon as the PT Convert comes out, we will be an only Mopar family again. I will have to find the pictures and post them later. ALL Plymouths, with one large block Dodge thrown in: My father's first car was a 1947 Plymouth 2-door sedan, and he bought another dozen or more Plymouths before passing. My uncle's first car was a 1949 Plymouth 4-door Deluxe, bought new, and still owns it today. My first Plymouth purchase came in 1964 when I bought a 1955 Plymouth Savoy 2-door sedan,,,,,,,,but,,,,was equiped with a 1957 Olds J2 engine, 3-2 barrel carbs, glass packs, and huge rear tires. This sleeper looking Plymouth put quite afew Chevys and Fords down on the strip. My next Mopar product came in the way of a 1965 Dodge Coronet convertible with a 426 cubic inch wedge and a 4-speed,,,,,,,WHOA, did it GO ------------------

Well assuming we want Mopar history, my Grandfather had a Desoto.. my first illegal ride, borrowed from him when I was 14, my Dad had Chryslers, Desoto's and Imperials, My Mom had a red 50 Plymouth rag top and them later a Dodge Dart and then later a 66 Dodge Coronet with a 318. This car became mine when I came back from Nam, and after trying to get the 318 to honk, a 440 soon replaced it. It went real good after that. That was it till the Cat. |

The first Chrysler I ever bought was from way back in 2002. It was a Silver 2002 Chrysler Prowler. Would you believe... that I still drive that very same car even today?!! My car rolled off the assembly line on July 12, 2001 and is one of only 98 Silver Prowlers produced for the 2002 model year. In 1970 Richard Petty was racing a Plymouth Superbird. My father took my brother and I to see one on display at a local shopping center. It was the fastest car I ever saw standing still. I remember that logo Road Runner with his crash helmet tucked under his wing. Beautiful! I decided right there and then that if Petty raced it I would buy it. I was on the way to a Plymouth dealer to order a 1971 Duster in Petty blue when I found my first car, a 1972 Plymouth Satellite with a 400. Richard was racing the same body in a Road Runner. In '74 I traded for a Dodge charger; that car was the king of NASCAR. Mine was pretty cool too and it took me through college. I drove it for nine years. Over the years we have had several Chrysler products Plymouth, Dodge, and Jeep. Today we drive a Dodge Ram 1500, Dodge Durango 4x4, Plymouth Prowler, and we do have that 1970 Superbird! What a ride we have had with the Chrysler products and our enthusiasm grows each week as we follow Dodge Motorsports in Nascar. I guess you can say we are hooked on Mopar. ...I was always a GM guy when I was a teenager, till the day I encountered a Vitamin C orange 69 1/2 Roadrunner, 440 6-BBL...he flat out blew my 396/375hp '69 Chevelle into the weeds on Fallcreek Blvd in Indy......I took notes ....shortly after that I went to work for Uncle Sam for 4 years...during that time I was all over S.E. Asia...while standing on a corner in Tokyo one day I saw a red '70 'CUDA 440 SIX-BBL go cruising by....I was quite impressed !!!....18 long months later I returned to the "World" and had a new red '73 'CUDA 340 waiting for me... I drove the car immediately to Texas where I lived for a couple of years.....around 1976 I sold the car to a friend of mine and used the money to purchase my first 'Vette, a red 1961... .going thru the 'Vette cycle for a few years I was on my way to purchase a '78 'Vette Pace Car, L82/auto when I passed a driveway just a few blocks from my warehouse with a '69 Dodge Daytona sitting in the driveway, a "for sale" sign in the window....it was F6 Brite Green/white interior 4-spd with only 10,427 miles......
of the '70 Challenger T/A's and '70 AAR 'CUDAs....owned the first 1970 Dodge Challenger RT/SE with a HEMI ever made, it was a preproduction"pilot car".....2 different 69 Dodge Daytonas including the first one shipped in the U.S.A....it was also one of 3 "dealer installed" 440-SIX PAKS known to exist....had a one owner Superbird along the line with a few other various 'CUDAs and Challengers along the line....about 7 years ago I got tired of storing, dusting and got rid of most of my collection at one time....swtarted looking at 'Vettes again and went thru a bunch of them in a short while...flash forward to Christmas 98, went to purchase my wife a new red 'Vette conv....I had pretty well settled the deal and stopped at the local DC dealer to check on one of my cars in the service area....told the owner about buying the 'Vette, and before I knew it he had sold me a '99 black Prowler....now, 4 years later I have repurchased one of my Challenger T/As(Plum Crazy), owned a total of 8 Prowlers of which 3 remain....got hooked on Vipers a few years ago and have my eighth one being delivered this Saturday...

I never liked Chrysler cars my whole life. I hated the whine of the starter. I said I would never buy a Chrysler. The only Chrysler products I liked were the muscle cars of the 60's. (I love the Hemi sound.) My attitude changed when the 300M came out. The interior was one of the most beautiful I have ever seen, and the styling, features and 17" chrome wheels had me sold. My wife had a brand new Honda Accord and wanted the 300M if I ever got another car. We then got a 2001 Plymouth Prowler and we traded in the Honda, and she now drives the 300M. Now we have a Chrysler and a Plymouth in the garage and we love both cars! I guess "never say never".... |

My first Chrysler was a '63 New Yorker, which I bought used in 1969. After I went to work for Ford in 1971, there were no more Chrysler products in my life till my '97 Prowler. This wasn't till after I retired from Ford. I'm sad to say that Ford just doesn't make a really cool sports car. Although they do have the GT40 coming out, it's out of my price range. |

The only Chrysler vehicle I have owned is my 1999 red Plymouth Prowler. The only Chrysler vehicles I have considered buying are the Viper, Prowler, and PT Cruiser (of which I almost bought one last year). I would like to have a Viper by summer and may buy a PT convertible in the future. Besides those, nothing in the Chrysler product line excites me. ------------------ • MTD Prowler Intake System 2.2 |

Only Chrysler I've ever owned is a 2002 prowler. Don't care for the rest of the Chrysler lineup. Wouldn't mind a Viper or two but, the article is titled, 'My First Chrysler' and they are asking Chrysler owners to tell us about the first Chrysler. I don't see them asking for info on the on the other two brands (I suspect if they were they would refer to it as any DC or C/P/D product). |

My first Chrysler product was a 1961 DeSoto 4 dr with a Push-Button Torque Flight with a 361 Semi Hemi. From there I bought a 1965 Satellite convertible with a 318/ 2 4s. 1968 Satellite/ 383/4bbl/ 4 speed. 1969 Plymouth VIP, (Fury), 318 auto. 1973 Chrysler Newport, 400/2bbl auto. 1977 Chrysler Newport 400/4bbl auto. Until my Prowler, (2000 Woodward), the 77 was the last Chrysler product I owned. Unfortunately I have no photographs of any of these cars. Since the 77 I have owned, 1 Mini Van, 2 Pickups, 1 Bonneville, 2 4wd Blazers, 1 Cadillac, and a full size conversion van. |

I have been a Chrysler guy since I was a kid. Dad worked for Chrysler starting in 1953 and retired in 1988. My 1st car was a `67 Barracuda that had been thru a fence. With the help of my Uncle, brother and Dad we repainted it Midnight Blue, I put the mags on and air shock and that started the mods http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/image_uploads/`67cuda.jpg traded for `69 440 Roadrunner then the econo Duster 3 months before my job at Chrysler Electrical plant buying cars at this point got a little out of hand since I was making $200 a week, living at home and had more money than I knew what to do with...LOL... then a `70 B5 blue 340, at, 410 gear Challenger wish I had taken some pictures of this car then a `72 Barracuda and then a `70 Grand Coupe Barracuda 383 at, ac & pw, one cool car, I traded it off for a brand X, bought a `69 Charger SE and traded it off for a brand XX and bought a `69 SS 396 375HP 4 spd brand X My 1st NEW car was ordered in the early part of `77. A fully loaded `77 Dodge Aspen 360 T Top car then one of my favorite car `72 340 4 speed Challenger then the CAR I really want back I was talking to a guy about dart parts and the Cuda came up. When I told him about where I thought it was he told me he knew the car. I have talked to the current owner. He does not want to sell it and I cannot afford it even if he would sell it years go by cars come and go but the one I sold to get the Prowler was a really clean `67 Dodge Coronet convertible. I bought it to drive as a daily driver in `96. It had factory air, power steering, and the original paint & interior. 2 weeks before my prowler came I sold the Coronet
