Please help me,

My car has been vandalized once again at my apartment community, and I need to get my kat out of there and to a good body shop in the D/FW area(today). If anyone has any good leads on a shop that knows Prowlers, please let me know.

My kat is NOT safe at my apartment another day. I have had 3 incidents in the last 3 days!

*I will also be needing a convertible top replaced...so any help in that area would be nice too.

reply to this post, or send an email.

Thanks all

George

You need to get the HE11 outta that place. Even breaking your lease will save you more money than you'll be putting out for repairs.

I know!

I have already talked with my complex's mgr. They are willing to help with some of the penalties. I am moving asap!

I still haven't fixed the "keying" incident, since the work will take about 5 weeks to repaint the whole car.

I was waiting to move...but now these idiots are slashing my roof and tires and throwing eggs at it!

I hate to admit it, but they won...I really didnt want to move...but my Kat is more important

thanks for your concern

If this were me, at this point I would need to have some revenge. I would hire someone to watch my car during all hours it is parked until these bastards are caught and delt with. They need someone to teach them a lesson like a few broken bones or something. Go to your local biker bar and see if somone would like to earn a few extra bucks. Or if that kind of revenge is not your thing, hire an off duty police officer. I don't think it would take long to catch them.

Like that would do any good.

Way back in 1984 a neighbor of mine in an upscale apartment complex we lived in, kept having things happen to his new IROC Z-28. No, they weren't vandals so much as thieves.

This happened almost every weekend. So much so, we made a game of it. He lived on the 2nd floor and had a large balcony overlooking the parking lot so we would strategically place his car in full view of that balcony.
Next, we added a lot of plants (for cover) on the balcony. then, the four of us would lay in wait each with a high powered pellet rifle (can you see where this is going?)
He'd do other tricks like rigging up a sprayer bottle under the hood and fill it with Clorox so when they raised the hood, it would ruin their clothes. We also put carpenter tacks in the front two seats (believe it or not, when stealing a car, they never looked at the seats before sitting down).

Ahhh, the good ole days.......

Try putting a wireless battery operated baby monitor in your Kat until you van park it somewhere else. You might be able to catch them.

I agree with Beware's original post ... hire some dude 24/7 to be surveilence with authority from the police to aprehend and punish ... isn't Texas an "eye for an eye" state? Slash the culprits, egg em and leave em in a car port for all to see!

Whatever you do, don't let a dealer bodyshop fix it! Try Keith Stevens, No Boundaries 972-412-6400. He is an independent automotive customizer that does ISCA show quality work. Just remember that your insurance company does not get to decide where you get your car fixed and the original estimate from them will not be enough to fix your car correctly, they are betting on you not getting it fixed and keeping the cash.

They could not pay me to move out of there UNTIL I caught them. They would never have had a second or third shot at my car. They would have been seriously maimed on their second attempt. I would literally beat them with a baseball bat, but only on the legs and back, not on the head. I would want them to be able to hear me telling them what I was going to do to them next. There is no reason in the world for vandalism. I still think you have a PERSONAL enemy. I don't think someone would be coming back that often if it wasn't personal. I hope you get them.

George,
You live in an area filled with Kat owners. You should ask, or I'm asking them now, to help you catch who's doing this. I know the baseball bat thing sounds excessive, but how about simply catching them. Stake the place out, have a video camera and cell phone to call the police. SEND THEM TO JAIL! Be aware, if you don't want to do this for yourself, do it for ALL the car owners who will be future victims; if this person or persons is not caught. I know it will be a lot of trouble, but picture the satisfaction of catching them. You don't deserve this happening to you. FIGHT IT!

George,

Please don't let the vandals get away with this! If the biker with a bat makes you uncomfortable, at least get them on tape and press charges.

I once had a partner with a deranged ex that attacked his car in a similar manner, over and over again. One trip to the local jail house fixed the problem.

Don't have a body shop to recommend but I did purchase a replacement top from a guy off ebay for $250, just the top skin only, other parts. He had two at the time, let me know if you want his name.

If you have something else to drive and you are stuck in the apartment for a while, I have room in my shop for you to park your Prowler.

Steve

PS. This is TEXAS and you do have the right (legally and morally) to protect your property.

George: I don't know if you are the gold Prowler I spoke with on 75 one night about a month or so ago or not. I'm so sorry to hear about your car! Steve and the others are right, don't just let them get by with it. If you need the name of a private investigator that will take care of this for you, e-mail me and I will give his name to you. Trust me - he will find out who is doing this and will take care of the problem!! I've always had great success with Concours Body at 35 and 635. They handle all of the major non-domestic dealerships' vehicles - John Roberts BMW, all of the Ferrari dealerships, etc. I haven't used them in several years, but they used to be extremely good and were even more picky than I was on repairs. I know the adviser that I used has now gone on to Crest Infiniti, but you can check them out and get some references from them. Good luck with everything. Let me know if you want the PI's name and number. Tami

Thanks all.

I decided yesterday to try to catch the perps in action. I camped out in an SUV in the parking garage after I washed/cleaned my Kat.
My Kat was looking good as it posed as bait.

No action though.

I do want justice and have the individual(s) pay something. I don't want them to think they can get away with it. Several of you agree with me on this.

I will try to get as much evidence as possible. I have an egg shell so far(fingerprints?), and am going to record audio/video. I WILL NOT resort to violence-I don't want to jeopardize any possible legal action that may come out of all this.

Because I know that this might not stop future occurrences, I am still going to move after my Kat is repaired.

Wish me luck...I already have some volunteers to help me with shifts!

BeWare: The whole wireless thing just isn't working...I tried 2 brands and even an X10...too much concrete between my apt and garage :|

Thanks again for all your support in this matter.

George- I hope you are successful in catching the trash that are vandalizing your Prowler. The pictures of your car made me sick to my stomach. It really makes me realize how lucky those of us with garages are. GIVE'EM HELL!! Good luck, Buddy.

UPDATE:

Yesterday I bought the parts that I was lacking to setup a security camera in my complex's garage. I was anxious and ready to start hooking up everything after work....BUT, I got home around 6:30 pm and to my surprise, there were 2 NEW EGGS on my car.
-I took some more pics and saved the egg shells in a plastic bag [fingerprints for later use ].

I stayed up till about midnight wiring up my camera...this involved some "Mission Impossible" work on my side since I had to climb up on the 5-story roof and run about 250ft of cable out through my window to the garage.

I got everything going and popped in a tape to start recording.

No "action"...maybe they only strike once a day!?!

I washed my car this morning and parked it out in front of my complex's management office. I will move it back into the garage when I get home today...

The "cheese" will be fresh, so I can catch me a RAT!

I will keep you all posted.

These have got to be kids. No one in their right mind would pick on the same car so much and risk getting caught other then some brainless kiddo (or an ex-wife...heh.heh!)

A little violence would not hurt you in court after all the grief they have caused. No defense lawyer would ever want that to go to trial with a client that has done this 5-6-7-10 times to your car.
