Do to damage caused by my dealership, I am forced to purchase four new rims for the Prowler. Does any one know where I can get four stock (chrome) rims? Does anyone have any suggestions for alternative rims? ------------------ |

When Marty is not looking Rebecca said she could get you a set real cheap, for an alternative try Ed's shop about 3am, I sure he will be sleeping and the price would be right!! |

If the dealer messed up your rims why isn't it his problem to replace them? Bob ------------------ |

The dealer has acknowledged the damage and has agreed to replace the front right rim as it four long deep gouges, as to the other three the damage ranges from what looks like snake bites to half inch scratches. Each rim has four pairs of spots on them from the tire machine teeth gripping into the inside of the rims. The dealer does not feel the damage is substantial enough on the other three rims to warrant replacement as it is hard to see, as it is on the inside of the rim. I told him the rims were designed to show all-the-way through or else they would not have been finished all-the-way through. They wouldn't go for it. I tried the, "this will be a collectable one day, it's a 99 and I have 3K miles on it, any damage will detour from the value." He state "this car will never be a collectable". ------------------ |

Sounds like it's time to go over the dealer's head to DC direct. If that don't work...small claims court |

I have called the customer service number listed on the Chrysler web site, they said I needed to take it up with the dealership directly. |

I would take it up with the area rep. $2600 for a set of wheels on a $45K car they should replace them. No excuses. I would speak to the manager, then the owner, then the area rep and so on. Also if you have a consumer advocate in your area contact him or her. Or go down to the dealer on a Satruday wearing a sign saying before you buy a car here ask me how the service deapartment treated me. Don't put anything derogatory on the sign. When asked don't be nasty just state the facts. When they start losing sales they will gladly replace the rims |

this is an unfortunate situation but one everyone should learn from .. certain things should NOT be left to the dealer to handle ... one of which is ANYTHING to do with tires and wheel ... specially chrome ones ... a reputable tire place (like KO Tire in Elk Grove, IL) knows how to handle all types of tires (uniquely large diameters like Prowler and EMT's) and treates the customer's property like it is their own. Dealer service people and even some "Goodyear" centers should be left to handle just that warranty work that can not be done by the owner on these cars ... live and learn. |

quote: Tell him he is correct, it will not be a collectable some day. It already is. You can start a thread asking everyone to post who thinks it will be a collectable and then go show it to him. I would sue him in small claims court or regular court, whichever is appropo in your state. Tell him, "If there is nothing wrong with the rims you can resell them to someone without any problem." and see how he reacts to that. |
