Trailer is 3?? pounds - I believe like 365 and KAT can pull 1000 pounds with 100 pound tongue weight.

Yes and the Kat has no problem pulling near 1000 lbs either!!! I pull my Seadoo XP to the lake with my Kat quite a bit! The ski weighs 600, and probably 300 for the trailer. I really can't even tell it's there! It looks pretty killer too. The '02 XP matches the silver kat pretty well..... People ask about it, and I say hey, it's a toy to pull my toy!

I can't find it but I remember reading a spec sheet that claimed 350 pounds as the curb weight of the trailer.

Spoons,
Take your girlfriends out of the trailer before weighing it!

It has been a few years but shipping weight on my trailer was 385 (I think). The 100 lbs tongue and 1,000 total are correct.

Shipping weight and curb weight are different.

Curb weight is dry weight of the trailer alone.
Shipping weight includes the packaging materials.

According to the Sales slip on my trailer shows to be 385 lbs with tongue installed. Larry is correct without the tongue is 350 + 35 for tongue weight. Total capacity including trailer is 1,000 lbs. JMO

So what's the verdict on the U-Haul trailer? It's 600+. Can the cat tow that and some cargo or should I just skip the hitch?

Whealy, as long as you are not carrying extremely heavy objects you should be okay. If you are going camping for a couple of weeks, it probably will not work.

GVWR 1000 means Gross Vehicle Weight Rating 1000 pounds
*******************************************
Deduct the 615 pound load capacity and that will give you a vehicle weight of 385 pounds.
C'mon guys this ain't rocket science!

Just a little something else to give spoons something to think about,,,,,Be sure to place the girlfriends in the correct location in the trailer to get the correct tongue (Sorry! I just couldn't help myself) weight.

Whealy,
Sorry for getting off track.

The Prowler has a towing capacity of 1000 pounds. If the U-Haul trailer weighs 600 pounds you can easily tow the trailer and and additional 400 pounds of luggage in it.
Be sure not to get too much tongue weight on your hitch. The hitch should carry the tongue weight easily but your car will be dragging and overloaded on the rear.
Too little tongue weight will cause the trailer to whip or sway while you are towing. Just get the trailer, load it and put a bathroom scale under the coupler to check the tongue weight while the trailer is sitting on even ground and the coupler is at ball height.
Be sure to check the ball height of the trailer versus the ball height of your car. They should be close to the same height. If not, you can purchase a rise or drop ball mount to make it correct.
Ask U-haul for the recommended tongue weight for their trailer (it should be a percentage of the loaded weight) and make sure it is not over 100 pounds.

Larry Lord,

A good thread always has some off topic conversation. Don't worry about it.

Thanks for all the info as well as everyone else. For me, I figure no more than I will use the trailer, the U-Haul trailer will fit best rather than a cat trailer. Now I just have to find a bra for it that I can have painted Midnight Blue ...

sometimes I wonder why I bother to reply, But, like I said before, my trailer is a kit I had to have it at a truck scale to get passed DMV for the ca. tags unhooked, stand alone it came in at 385 lbs.
