Darcy, I don't know if it's any stronger but there is a luggage rack made for PT Cruiser's, it is chrome and works on the same principal as the Prowler Luggage Rack. My dealer has one he got in case my trailer did not come in before CO, we had put it on my Prowler and it looked good, but no road test. Thanks, Bob ------------------ This message has been edited by hack1320 on 06-21-2002 at 10:05 AM |

Here's a pic of the Chrome PT luggage rack on a Blue Prowler & it looked very good. I asked if there was any history of these breaking & the answer was NO.. Looks a whole lot better than the Prowler one & may be good alternative... Fits right in the same receiver hitch used for Prowler or PT... I took this pic in California at the Wine Country Cruise at Sears Point Raceway. Sorry, I don't remember the Prowler owners name...

Can some one give me a site to check out the PT Chrome rack. I have tried using Google, found many sites ,seen some racks and carriers, but none like the one in the post. Would like to know where I can pick one up. Dan G. Forget this question. Found the site. (Mopartsracing.com) This message has been edited by RBADKAT on 06-21-2002 at 09:53 PM |

The picture that Laddie sent was my Prowler (GROWWLR), listed under the name of "Trespassers Will..." It has a PT chrome luggage rack that fits into the stock Prowler hitch receiver with a slight modification* to the nut plate that comes with the rack. The PT rack is available from your local yocal Mopar dealer. Mine has been I5, I80 and US50 tested with about 80# aboard. The Chrysler sales pitch claims that the welds are "inspected to prevent plate cracking." Often, when it's folded up, dummies ask; "whaasssat?" I tell 'em; "It's a European towel drier." Regards, Bill Grouell * picture on request |

I also use the PT Cruiser luggage rack (HITCH MOUNTED LUGGAGE RACK, Mopar Part No. 82205889, chrome plated stainless steel. 75 lb. cap., $465)...ordered mine from local Chrysler dealer and it arrived in about two weeks... I have been road testing the rack for the past two weeks with various loads... 1. Two full sets of golf clubs in travel bags, or... 2. Prowler 'Luggage Trunk' (Part No. 82204201, Price: $159.00 + S&H from Carnuts.com)...42 in.x16 in.x 15 in....loaded with picnic basket, blanket, collapsible cooler, two 'bag' chairs)...fits the luggage rack 'like a glove',or... 3. Briggs & Riley rolling duffle bag (their model no. 1185...30 in.x16 in.x15 in. for $229) loaded with travel clothes and gear,... Briggs & Riley (www.briggs-riley.com) makes a couple of other bags that fit the rack well...Victorinox (Swiss Army) makes a Large Gear Mobilizer (their model number 34041, $295, www.swissarmybrands.com) that works great...Eagle Creek has a couple of rolling duffles as well (www.eaglecreek.com)... I have pictures of my rack and various loads ...available on request...I also have picks of Bill Grouell's Prowler with various Victorinox bags on the PT Cruiser rack (thanks, Bill!)... I have the Prowler "Mopar" Luggage Rack. Also I have the soft nylon luggage that is made to fit and attach by Mopar. It works great. I had big cooler and lots of clothes in the nylon carrier on a central Florida cruise. Frank Tipton 1MOR TOY |
