… the trim (or is that considered a bezel?) that wraps around the center console (vents, radio, climate). Do I just pull it out? I thought I had seen a post on this no too long ago, but I can’t find it now.

YEP - just pull. I painted mine black last year. It was the second thing I did (after chrome strips on grill) to car and I thought I was going to break it. It is held on by clips. If you want to remove it totally, you will need to unplug the radio volume switch and cigarette lighter/power recepticle.

I had to pull mine off today for the first time to fix the diverter vanes. Pry a little to get it started and pull it right off.
