I got two phone calls yesterday from people that saw "a blonde driving your car". I told them it was my 16 year old daughter's first time with the KAT without me with her. Besides telling me I'm nuts, I find out Lindsay's a tease. One guy was behind her at a traffic light - she was first in line - when a kid in a Mustang pulled up beside her an started revving his engine. Rick said Lindsay gunned the KAT, the light turned green, the Mustang smoked his tires, ..... and Lindsay just laughed at him.

Now I just have to figure out how much she paid my friend to tell me this story.

All she would say about her four hour adventure in the KAT was "Wow Dad, lots of guys flirted with me while I was driving. Here are your keys. By the way, the gas tank is almost empty. Thanks " - and a big smile on her face.

Al - your almost young enough to date my daughter. Are you rich?

Steve - this was definetly a special limited thing. She is (at least when I am with her) a pretty good young driver. She has had straight A's through out high school so far, and it was a nice sunny day so she could drive with top down for better site lines. I got to admit I was nervous about it. PLus I had to her Celica with the zebra steering wheel cover and sticker in the back windaw that reads "Yield to the Princess" - that was special!!

Andy - both your boys are still young. Wait till they are both driving and then think about what you did when you were a teenager!!

Well this brings up something I need help with? I let my son use the Vette for Prom and now my daughter wants the Prowler! The only real problum I have is she has been driving for 13 months and has 2 off road trips, and count them 5 dents in her car and not one of them she has any idea how they got there. Do I throw the dice and make a lasting memory for her and her date ( while I sit at home adding to the gray hair ) or say no and rent a limo ( not what she wants )? POA members HELP!

Bob - it's a tough decision. Last year, I rationalized that I had used Ryan's tuition money to get the KAT since he got a scholarship to college, so I let him drive the Prowler to Prom. (9 days after I got it) He had been driving over two years with no accidents and only one ticket. Lindsay has only had here license three weeks (plus six month of driving on her permit) I did not want to think I was being preferential to one over the other or putting out a message that boys are better driver than girls. But Ryan has only had car four times in a year and Lindsay's excursions will be just as limited.

Bottom line for me is that although the Prowler is a great car .... it is just a car!! My kids are worth a whole lot more to me. If my Dad had owned a Vette, or XKE, or some other exotic when I was a teenager, I sure would have wanted to drive it.

Good luck with your decision.

Bob, it seems as if your daughter has already shown her lack of skill or concern for her driving. I don't think it is her right to drive your special car, just a privilege. I don't think she has earned it yet. A little accountability for her actions may go a long way. Did she offer to pay for all of the damage to her other car?

My kids are all grown and have their own families and I don't have to worry about this. But I have to agree with Andy R on this one. All three of my Daughters totaled cars and there is no way I would have let them drive the Prowler. One of the three had so many accidents and points from them and other tickets she lost her license and had to go to driving school to get it back. All would have known better than to even ask. I also had three sons. No totaled cars among them but two of the three had accidents. No taking the Prowler would heve been allowed there either. Bottom line you have to do what your gut feel tells you. Life isn't always fair.

Accidents and/or numerous tickets would mean no more Prowler for my kids either. My kids have been lucky because they drive like my ex-wife as far as speed is concerned!!

If any kind of irresponsibilty issue comes with with their driving, then their limited Prowler experiences will be curtailed. Until then, I am glad to be able to let them have some fun!

Thanks for the replys, I think I might just go to the auction next week and buy a convert Mustang or Camaro for her to use and then put it on the car lot after prom. But here is some food for thought I have been moving things from the several storage units I have into 1 larger one and I have enough body panels around here ( all I would need is a body tub ) I could build a Prowler LIMO, Maybe a project for this coming winter, anyone want to come help.

Every Think about renting a prowler. There is a place near me that rents them out for like $500 a weekend. Maybe that will satisfy your daughters needs.

Knowing the effect the "BadKat" has on regular humans, I could not resist letting my son take his girlfriend to the Senior Prom in the "BadKat" last year.

They reserved him a spot right in front of the door to the gym and had the secuity guard watch it. You should have seen the grin on his face as he was telling me about pulling up to the door, and the huge, huge crowd that came outside to look. Him and his date was the envy of everyone in school that night, and I'm sure the "BadKat" made it a night to remember forever. Now that's........priceless!

Only the Prowler is capable of having that kind of effect on people. Yep, it's not just a car...it's an adventure.
