Ok, I know this topic is probably a rehash but, I can not stop driving the Kat, I only have one, I have other cars I could drive but want to drive it every day. My concerns are obvious, windshield chips, paint chips, or another damage. Since they do not make them any more I would not trust a dealer to change the wiper fluid, what are the opinions about actually, probably foolishly, driving her every day.
Thanks

When your old and feeble would you rather it had just sit in the garage or would you rather have driven it. Windshields and paint can all be replaced with enough money. Most classic cars you see have been driven all their lives it just takes a little work to bring them back to pristine condition...and to me that's part of the fun of having a car worth keeping.

Yes, I do have couple of extra Kats....BUT, I do drive my orange Kat everyday...it has had 15,000 miles put on it since July ...in the last couple months it has been to Detroit twice, Atlanta, Nashville, Cleveland and on the road locally everyday...WHY, because it's fun to drive....it gets dirty, it IS dirty, it hasn't seen the inside of a garage in 6 months, but it is far more fun to drive it than watch it sit in the garage....if you are worried about USING IT UP, don't worry....these things will be for sale in Hemmings Motor News with NO MILES on them for decades to come...use it up, buy another one in a few years and use it up too...at my age I plan to drive one all the time till I get to the HOME ....let the next generation worry about restoring the tired used Prowlers that "CRAZY OLD GUY" drove EVERY DAY DRIVE IT KID !!!!

It was great meeting you on the Bluebonnet Cruise. It is always nice when I get to know the POA people that post here.

I won't take personal offense to being called foolish because I drive my KAT as a daily driver. Actually, I really think it is a matter each person needs to decide personally. For me, I love driving the KAT so much, it just isn't the same when I am behind the wheeel of another vehicle. It is almost like daily therapy for me.

On the downside, you are correct in that the car absorbs abuses of daily driving. I have a 100,000 mile warranty and plan to have an annual professional detailing done. Luckily, perhaps due to the angle of the car's sides or the faxt that people see the car and are careful, but after 27,000 miles there are no parking lot dings in the doors or sides - not one! Rock chips are another matter - lots of them on the front end.

And one last thing - I am out of window fluid!

Regards

Marty

My candy red is a daily driver. I will probably get a clunker for really bad weather, but for now I totally enjoy driving it all the time.

DITTO....no door dings...ZERO....but I am careful where I leave it most of the time...a very few rock chips, mostly on the hood ??? These cars throw rocks out in front of themselves that come back at you like a bullet...I have a small (very small) rock mark on the windshield that the car did to itself in this manner...it has also taken a 2x4 to the nose on the interstate and a falling object hit the deck lid...both are repaired and no one can tell the difference...in short...DRIVE IT .....

Jerry, DRIVE IT!! When are you going to do that again??? Maybe in the next life? It is a special car but it is still a car... 40,000 everlovin' miles so far!

If you have 6,000 miles and I have 40,000 miles, look how much more fun I've had... hehehe

There will be plenty of time to NOT drive the kat when you are dead. (P.S. That's when I also plan to catch up on my sleep)

Cars are meant to be driven, trophies should sit on shelves. I had one car in my life time that was too valuable to drive and even sitting there it deteriorated. This is not a dress rehearsal so have fun and go drive your prowler.

Well... mine had 250 miles on it after the first 14 days... then 3000 miles after the first 17 days...

lets see 2500 miles in 3 days... 365 days in a year.. hmmm....

LOVED every mile and NO REGRETS!

What a guy would do just to see some bluebonnets and meet some great folks!
