With summer just around the corner that means one thing, Prowler events to attend..My question is what type of Two Way Radio does everyone use?..I guess it would have to be CB or the newer Family Channel Radios.. Also is there any New England Prowler owner planing on driving out to Colorado in June..I am from Boston and the way things stand now i will be driving the Kat to Colorado..anyone want to join in..Hey, half the fun is getting there..Thanks Wayne (TomCat) |

TomCat, most everyone uses the 2 mile 38 channel/ 14 subchannel radios. Motorolas are great. I have two 6220's and they were 39.99 each after rebate. Hope this helps. Sometimes you can get two in a package (different brands) for a good price too. ------------------ |

Wayne - I use the Cobra brand radios, with the SUBCHANNELS, and bought the optional mic to plug into unit so you don't have to hang on to the radio while driving. The Cobra uses 4-AAA batts, and I seem to get twice the battery life over those cats I'm cruising with that use Motorola units. Nothing wrong with the Motorola units, just they seem to be changing batteries much more often. I wouldn't buy the radios with the rechargeable battery function,,not practical when out driving in your cat. JMO ------------------ |

After visiting CAAP this last month we saw several Audiovox FR1438's in use. I picked up a pair at wall mart for $59. They work great and come with a recharger. This is one of the smallest units I have seen and you should be able to use the hands free mic with this also. Gordon |

Alley Cat makes a point about the battery issues on 2-way FRS radios. I just upgraded to the Motorola T6310 that has a built-in FM radio for use when you're not talking. I really like the ergonomics of this Motorola series and the sound quality because the size allows a larger diameter speaker within the enclosure. I got mine on EBay and paid a fair price. If you like this series, check EBay for a good price. ------------------ |

Hands free mike and ears phone / phones in a Kat are a very good idea. Especially the ear phones when driving with the top down. Even more so when you have a custom exhaust. ------------------ |

I have audiovox FR-1438. about $70 at walmart for 2 radios with base and charger. It has 4 rechargable AAA batteries with it. regular AAA can be used if they go down. I like the small size and the ear bud is an optional. It also has the sub channels. Several people do not have the sub channels but at some point it would be good for them to upgrade to ones with sub channels ------------------ |

When is this Colorado trip? I'll have to go look at the calendar. Reason I ask is because I'll be trailering the snake back to Seattle in June and my route is "fluid". ------------------ |

Tony, that would be way cool. I have also invited the local Viper Club to join us if they can. The dates are June 6-10. A small but growing number of us are meeting Wednesday nite the 5th at Bandimere for test and tune nite if you can make that as well. ------------------ |

Marcus Cirilius, Jack the Wonder Dog and I are among those who plan to attend and monitor opening Mile High ceremonies at Bandimere Wednesday June 5th. Maybe we could light an Olympic stogie? Our car may not the fastest?.. However, we want to be recognized for having the most fun. Also, Jack and I are determined that you should not KILL your car (and we should not kill ours) before the fun really begins...; Repeat after me.."NO NEUTRAL DROPS..OHm ohm..." Live to Prowl..Prowl to LIVE!~! ------------------ |
