or do you know of any additives that prevents dry start from when the KAT is sitting for long periods of time.

I am thinking this is a good deal.

SM - if your cat sits in the garage most of the time, I'd say use their product. I read the info and it sounds good. I've read many pros and cons on products like Slick 50 and others. Maybe contact Jerry S. at DC, and get his valued opinion.

I really doubt that kids read my posts or know what KY is? If they are old enough to know what it is, then there is no harm. Once again last night, I was devulged in tv ads about yeast infections and herpes cures. I looked at my new calendar, and it says 2002 on it. You there?

I hope they think it means Kentucky.LOL

I have used Mobil One on all my cars. I think this is the best. I would be afraid of leaks with that many hoses.

LOL,,,,yes, just talked to ED. He said KY stands for Kentucky Jello. He is still two cards short.

Mobil 1,,,,,,,,what I use also. Still, contact Jerry @DC for his valued opinion. He will shoot us straight on the matter. JMO

Sasy,

Forget about it, being from Michigan also I've let a lot of cars sit over the winter months, I'm a Mobil 1 user also. The best thing to do is change the oil and filter before you put the car away for the winter. Starting the car once or twice a month isn't a bad idea either. There's so many products on the market today that promise you the world and deliver nothing, I'd pass but that's just me.

I use an additive called Militec in all my engines, car, boat and motorcycle. You put it in, run the engine for 15 minutes, and check the dipstick and the level will be exactly the same as before you put it in. It goes into the metal. I add some every 15 thousand miles. The military uses it. GM uses it in their fleet vehicles but won't put it in their production cars because they would last too long. I had a 1886 Dodge Daytona that had 240 thousand miles on it when I got rid of it and it still ran great. I gave some to a friend of mine that has a Ducati 916 racing bike that just would not start during cold weather if it sat for more than a week. He resisted but now his bike starts first crank everytime. He swears by it. The stuff is hard to come by because the guy who owns the rights to it has not done well at marketing it. I have bought it at car shows and still have a small supply. If anyone is interested I will track down a source again and post it.

Sassy, I'm with Al and Larry. My pride and joy is up on jack stands, but I go out once a week and start it up.

After it's warm, I sit inside the cat and accelerate to different RPMs (staying at each level for a few minutes, and not over 2500) for about 20 minutes. This dries out the exhaust system, and lets her breathe a little.

HotRod...

Because we bag the car for the winter, obviously we don't start it up until it comes out of the bag in the Spring. Here's what we do:

We change the oil to fresh Mobil 1 and a premium oil filter just before storage. We run the car for 10-15 minutes with the fresh oil. When we take it out of the bag, we are very careful to turn it over and not let it start until the oil pressure comes up. That may take 2 or 3 tries. The Mobil 1 has made a noted difference on start-up after extended storage. That's all we do, and haven't had any problems.
