Im on the list but I am really worried about all the fit and finish problems discussed on an earlier thread. Also, the rubbing on the rear deck. ------------------ |

Chrome, We have done some intense water tests on the 2nd generation hardtop before going into production and concluded that is does not leak. We used high pressure washers we have here at our detail facility and was dry inside during the tests. As for the rubbing on the rear deck. We feel that the reason the convertible top "may" leave some marks on the top of the deck lid is for two reasons. #1 - As in one of my earlier threads, this is a convertible car that has flex in the chassis and body and this flexing while driving will cause any seal to rub on the painted surface. Even though this seal is made of rubber, anything that constantly rubs on the surface will leave minor surface scratches. You can look back to almost any convertible vehicle and find the same issues. #2 - The factory seal on the convertible top has a metal backing to support the seal and allow a attaching point for the seal to the convertible top, thus this could cause added pressure to the seal against the body? (Refer to reason #1). We have chosen to use a "D" shaped seal that is approx. 5/8" thick for added support without any metal backing. It is manufactured by a company called Trim-Lok and supplies seals for many vendors and manufacturers around the world. ------------------ |

Norb's correct on this one. The soft top causes as much damage if not more than the hardtop. Someone on the other thread suggested 3-M film. That's the answer. ------------------ |
