Somebody at work today (actually about five minutes ago) asked me why I love a car as impractical as the Prowler. She went on to say that she couldn’t see why I love it so much considering I can’t drive it all year here in NJ. She thought that I should have gotten a nice BMW that I could drive all year. I tried to explain it to her but it was like talking to a rock. So…I thought that I would post the question on the board for everybody to answer and then tell her to check it out. This way she doesn’t just get my opinion. Well, here goes nothing: “Why do you love your Prowler?” Voodoo |

"You either get it or you don't" This phrase sums up the conversation that you will have with people that comment on your passion for the Prowler, when they just don't understand how, when and why you have and drive your Prowler. I just smile and say that that's true (agreeing with them) and leave it at that. Enjoy...only #$%^ days till no more snow! ------------------ |

The Prowler isn't about being practical or being a daily driver. It is about experiencing the road and enjoying yourself as you drive. It is my opinion that you really must like to drive and enjoy travelling to understand this. People that don't like to travel on the highways just won't get it. Even though you can get the wind in your hair in any convertible, the Prowler is different, it looks different, it handles different. The Prowler is for those that want something different - not a car that looks the same as all the others (basically). That is why I love my Prowler. That is what made me fall in love with it the very first time I saw it so many years ago. That is what made me tell my wife "one day, I will own one of those cars!!!!" ------------------ |

Here is something else too - over the holidays my kids were watching video tapes of when they were small. On one of the video tapes, I think it was around '94 or '95, the camera was on me unwrapping a Prowler die cast. I got this huge smile on my face and I just said - "one day, one day, I will have a life size prowler" - it came true |

I love my Prowler because it makes me smile. Even when it is in storage for the Wisconsin winter. I just feel good looking at it, driving it, or dreaming about it. The car is the most beautiful vehicle on the road. (or in my garage) This car encourages me to work harder, accomplish more, and reap the rewards of the commitement. take care tsf... |

As others have said, the prowler is not for everyone. It takes a lover of the automobile to truly appreciate our cars. To someone who is not a car enthusiast it's "Like trying to tell a stranger 'bout rock and roll"(from the song Do You Believe In Magic). The best way to show her your love is to take her out in the cat for a day. She will get to see all of the "smiles per miles" that we have come to enjoy in our cats. The prowler is a soul car and if cars stir your soul then the cat is your meow. Most importantly , it doesn't matter if anyone else likes your car. If they aren't paying for it, they don't get to vote. There will always be people who "don't get it". You are one of the chosen ones who do get it and that is why you get to play with the cool kids. Just my opinion. Doc-Man |

VooDoo, If you take Doc Mans advise I hope you are single or have a VERY understanding wife. LOL What else can you drive that makes people of all ages stop and look, take pictures and even bow down in the middle of the road or fall if they are not watching where she is going. hehe It is beautiful and a BLAST TO DRIVE. But with all that said the real thing about the car is the PEOPLE THAT DRIVE THEM What a great bunch of people ------------------ |

When I first got my cat a guy I used to work with told me I could have gotten a Cadillac for the price I paid. I just looked at him. Talk about not getting it. Reason # 2. Less than 10,000 sold with only about 6000 on the streets, probably. Last night I was talking to a guy in his early 70's and he was talking about cars and said he really only wants one car, a Prowler. He did not know I had one. I told him I had one and he said, "Is it Red". Then he said maybe he would also like to have a PT and I told him I had one of those, also. He couldn't believe it. Talk about making my day. He gushed for about half an hour. They will never become common. They will always be in style. Darn, I wish it were about 40 degrees warmer right now. I could stand to go for a cruise. Why worry if some people don't understand. I didn't buy it for anyone but myself and I think it was the best decision I ever made. ------------------ |

Owning a Prowler is like owning a rolling piece of sculpture. I love it for its classic looks and its pure enjoyment to drive. It has given me an oppurtunity to meet poeple I would never had a chance to. Especially other Prowler owners. I also love it because it is so unique that you don't see one every single day or anything else like it and for the joy you see on people's faces when they see it. It is the most fun vehicle I have ever owned. ------------------ |

Jack the Wonder Dog wanted to answer this one. Jack says what he loves the most about the the Prowler is that it's a CHICK MAGNET!! Jack says he loves the attention he gets by all the girl dogs and foxes while he's in that car (and Chromer doesn't mind either). Jack the Wonder Dog and Chromer his Faithful Companion |

Everybody seems to be trying to sell the Kat to me. You don't have to worry about that. I have had it 2 years now and love every minute of it. If I ever had a second thought about it (and I want to point out that I haven't) all I have to do is go out for a cruise and wait about 30 seconds until the first person just stares open mouthed and then the mouth closes and a smile for ear to ear appears. I just want to get the point across to her. I figured that if more then just me told her. She might understand it more. But then I've also found it's like most of you had said--You either get it or you don't. Most do!! Keep those reasons coming. I told her that I would take her out for a cruise when the weather gets a little bit better. Won't be too much longer until that springtime bird starts singing. Voodoo |

That's like asking a man why he stares at a beautiful woman!!... Just look at those curves, the tapered waist going to that wide yet sultry rear end... those open wheels welcoming you to what lies within.. The way it fits when you slide in behind the wheel... How it responds to your touch when you give it the gas and caress the wheel... How everyone smiles and stares with envy when you cruise down the street. It's just chemistry... ok, I'm off to take a cold shower. Love my Prowler :{> MadMikey ------------------ |

I have always been a Chrysler, Dodge, and Plymouth die-hard. Every new car I have ever bought has been one. Chrysler is the only American car maker that over the years has kept its identity instead of building cars that look like all the other japanese and european cars. I'm not knocking BMW's but from far away you can't tell it from a Lexus, Acura, Nissan, Audi, Intrigue, etc, etc, and when you get up close unless you really know your cars you won't know if your looking at a new BMW or any one of the same model for the last ten years if its well kept. The Prowler is the most American looking car ever mass produced and my company was the one with the guts to do it! There is nothing else like it. It is a statement and an example of the American Spirit, just like putting a man on the moon. I feel so blessed to own one. The reason I love it the most though is the great people I've met through this site as a result. Like a friend of mine said when I first showed it to him, "What a Machine!" ------------------ |

hmmmmm....interesting responses. Have to say I agree with them all (well, I understand MadMickey but I have to be real careful with that one...lol.) Just so happens I used to be married to a man who just didn't get it - understanding what I saw in the car, I mean. All I can say is it has changed my life! And that's a very good thing. |

I think Debbie just "revealed" that she is single now. MadMikey, I got tingles reading your post. Nice wording. I love my Kat because it's a statement of who I am... Voodoo, as far as your co-worker, tell her you could drive it all year, but you choose not to. You love it too much. Take her for a ride this spring, see if she gets it then. As far as practicality, ask her if jewelry is practical. I'm willing to bet she wouldn't mind wearing $40,000 worth of diamonds around. Even if she COULD only wear them when it's warm. ------------------ |

For me, it was love at first sight. Then a 3-year mission to have one. Now it is definitely a continuing love affair!! My cat makes me smile when sometimes nothing else can. Makes me forget my troubles and makes me realize how lucky I am to have one. It has brought sheer joy into my life, provided me with something cool to share with my hubby (since we both love cars) and has made it possible to not only hang out on this board with the greatest bunch of people, but to be able to meet them in person, too. What else could a girl ask for? I got it!!! ------------------ Classic/Beautiful - I'm referring to the Cat of course! |

To those who ask me if I'm having a mid-life crisis, I answer "Not anymore". The appeal of the kat is simple to understand and it is not new. The whole thing started when someone took the fenders off his fliver and drove around with a smile. The hot rod, that is the genealogy for the kat, has always been a statement to society. Don't pigeon hole me - I won't stand for it - I am my own person. The hot rod has always had the audacity to take individuality and slam it smack dab it the face of established norms. If you are a sheep, you could never understand and may even fear the kat. ------------------ |

Niteman, your words wrapped it up for me. I keep a pretty low profile, normally, but this car gives me the grins just knowing that most people I know can hardly believe I own one. Owning it is for my ego, for my pleasure, for the love of at least one convertible in my life, and for the pure unadulterated joy of driving the most American of all American cars! This car is attitude without being pretentious. I am proud to own it! ------------------ This message has been edited by Paul on 01-08-2002 at 11:49 PM |

Iam blessed more then most of you I get to drive my cat every day 7 days a week, every morning I walk out the door and smile as I say good morning to our cat, turn the key hear the borla and the cold air sucking the breath of life into the cold cylinders and grin ( large smile is more like it)every day I then say "ok baby lets rock and roll" sometimes I leave for work two hours early just so I can drive around. I dont think that anyone other then those of us who are so lucky enough to belong the elite group of people who are members of the prowler family will ever understand, I dont have a death wish and want to live for a long long time but when I go I want it to be in my cat ------------------ |
