We have been preparing for the trip to Denver in June. We'd like your opinion on whether this is a good idea

Would do you think ? . . . . .

If this isn't a good idea we do have a 1-ton truck and enclosed trailer.

If you see us on US I-25, wave

I am sure there will be more knowledgable people than me who will respond. BUT, I think the PT is underpowered to pull the Prowler. (At least my PT is). You have some mountains to go through on your trip, don't you? I think with no front on your trailer that road debris is going to do some damage to the paint on the prowler, also.

I know it would be cool to pull the prowler with at PT but I would go with the one ton myself. Ed is right, them's some big mountains to get over with what's under the hood of a PT. Unless of course you've done something to the PT that you are keeping to yourself. Like the viper engine that was shoehorned in to one for the car shows.
Besides you'll have the cat to drive when you get there. That's what really matters. I'll be driving mine out from New Jersey. Open road, wind in my hair, and knowing my luck it will rain the whole way.

Not at all. I'm starting to join you. I looked at pictures from 4 years ago and my hair line was down almost 2 inches more then it is now. I figure I might as well blow as much of that weak-a$$ hair off my head as I can. If it's not strong enough to hold on to my head I don't want it anyway

Al, I think Dan Pena posted on the wrong thread. Everything else seems legit.

Driving the Prowler to events is 3/4 the fun of the
experience. If hauling on a trailer a 3500 is nice.

While pulling the Cat with a PT would look cool. No way would I try it. Driving Kat pulling litter box from Georgia to SLC Utah and then to CO on the flip flop.

I have a PT, wouldn't think of ridking my cat behind such an under powered car.

I love my PT but it could never be a tow vehicle.

Go with the truck, d\spend more in gas but be safe and happy that you made it

Having pulled the Cat to Crazy Horse with my Dakota V8, I can tell you that there is no way the PT can do it. that pull was about the limit for a Dakota. My Dakota is a stick and so is our PT, there is just isn't enough power there.

Thanks for all the responses. We understand the towing capacity of the PT, just thought it would be 'Kool' as others have commented. We have come to the conclusion that we will do one of two things: bring the Prowler named 'Pumpkin' in an enclosed trailer or just drive her to Colorado (top down, of course). The only reason that we would trailer 'Pumpkin' is to have some place to carry luggage . . !

To Voodoo,

We saw pics of the V10 viper engine in the PT, would be nice, but all we have is the cold air intake, certainly not enough extra power for towing anything.

You want to look cool get a matching trailer. You can carry everything you need and then some. And it looks really cool going down the road. It pulls like a dream you won't even know it's there. The only pain is backing up. I average 23 mpg pulling mine and its loaded. A guy watching me unload at Woodward last year said he didn't think I was ever going to stop pulling stuff out of the trailer. The Prowler hitch does not detract from the car at all.

The PT should pull the Prowler OK. After all, I saw the exact same set up in the toy department at Wal-Mart and heck, they sure wouldn't mislead anyone.

How we got to Deadwood! Only because someone won't let someone drive it out!!!! However, as it turned out, we really needed that trailer!!! PT would look cool, but.

CJ - that big hill in your back yard must now be covered with snow? Open up the slopes, add a lift to the top, and charge the Mi locals to ski down the hill. Should generate enough extra income to FedEx Cargo your cat to Colorado!

Bob can pull the empty trailer out to Colo. for emergency uses - seems like other cats got more miles on that trailer than yours did, LOL.

In the words of Paul Rosenburg,,,are we there yet?
