Has anyone had a problem with their interior bell not going off when pulling the key out of the ignition? I have checked all of the lights and associated interior parts, but it will not go off until I shut the door! The dealer told me to spray some WD-40 into the hole! Will this harm any of the internal componets? |

I had the same problem. I hate to admit for me it was operator error. When I was cleaning the dash board, I had twisted the light switch counterclockwise. I learned that it has two clicks that direction - one to keep dash lights on full intensity, one to turn on interior lights. Once I turned switch back clockwise, the ringing stopped. I hope it's that simple for you and not something electrical that needs to be traced down. Marty ------------------ This message has been edited by Marty Usher on 10-11-2004 at 06:25 PM |

Marty, I went to check the switch knowing that it would not be my problem! Guess what, I'm a dummy! I guess that I turned it yesterday when detailing the cat. Thanks for saving me a trip to the dealer for something sooooo simple! Hodge |

Well now we have both admitted to the level of our IQ. But we were both smart enough to be driving Prowlers!! I am glad it wasn't anything more. Marty ------------------ This message has been edited by Marty Usher on 10-11-2004 at 06:25 PM |

The knob for headlights......... TURN it rather than pull it. I was drunk as snot once sitting there trying to figure it out. Wasn't driving, but noticed the map lights were on outside the bar. <G> ------------------ |

Been there done that. Add my name to the list, took me a while to figure it out. Prowler was only a few days old when it happened. Rick |

I have had my cat for almost 2 1/2 years and I did not know there were two positions until I read it here. |

Brian, I should have gotten one of those Canadian Cats with the wiring a little different. I noticed a lot of stuff from Canada is wired a "little different". lol Speaking of which, I can't believe Wayne is really Canadian. He seemed refined and somewhat reserved. He kind of ruined the reputation the other Canadians built up at Deadwood. Maybe you could have the RCMP do a background check to see where he really came from. I hate to see one guy undermine the work of many. |

I see I am not the first to do this, but the fix described here has not worked. It seems something I did has caused my Prowler to go into 'daytime running lights' mode. When I open the door, my parking lights go on automatically and the bell starts ringing. When I turn off the car and open the door, the running lights stay on and the bell keeps ringing. Eventually the lights go out, but everything I have tried won't stop this from happening. I found the three positions on the light switch but that did not work. I know there was a recent thread on this, but this is the first one I found. Any new ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, |

XP, It sounds to me like your headlight switch is pulled out one click to turn on the parking lights. The computer will eventually turn them off if left on. As soon as you activate any switch(door, trunk, etc) they will come back on. And the bell will ring if the lights are on without the ignition on. On my Ram I sometimes don't even turn the lights out since the computer will do it for me. This message has been edited by MDProwler on 10-11-2004 at 03:16 PM |

I did the same thing on our Durango after detailing the dash. I had accidently turned on the dome light. |

Thanks MD, just went out and checked. Light switch pushed all the way in and twisted to the right into the dash dimmer range. I did notice that when I drove into the parking garage my lights came on automatically today even though the switch is off. Guess I need a trip to the dealership. |
