I am trying to purchase my 1st Prowler, but need some help. It is a Canadian vehicle, so it reads Kilometers. I need to know what will be required to convert it over to miles, so I can consider this in the purchase price. So far my local dealer has been unsure. Any help? 1 MPH = 1.6093 kph To convert from Kilometers to Miles, simply multiply the kilometers by 0.62 To convert from Miles to Kilometers, simply multiply the miles by 1.61

Greg, welcome to the POA! I don't have an answer to your question - you might have to wait a week for someone with the answer to come back from the Woodward Dream Cruise - or maybe Mike knows??? (Mikey knows all!!! ) (Mike - I think he means change the odometer, speedometer, etc. - Do the canadian cars show mph like ours show kph?) Here is a question for you - why are you buying a Canadian vehicle when there are so MANY U.S. ones sitting on showroom floors? If it is a used one - same question, there are a ton of used ones out there on the market. Just curious Welcome and you will find the people here warm, friendly, and courteous.... Right peeples????? ------------------ This message has been edited by CWatsonJr on 08-16-2001 at 06:57 PM |

O.K. you guys - I know the math calculations to convert the actual kilometers to miles. I want to make the odometer read miles. Yes the Canadian cars have a different speedometer/odometer. It is available in the Chrysler parts book either way. I'm thinking you just have to replace the speedo head & maybe reset a code in the computer, but I'm not sure. Certainly someone has done this. Why am I considering the Canadian car - it's the exact same except for this conversion, and it happens to be the year & color I want, plus it has the trailer, and all at a semi-reasonable price. I have been watching the market for the last year, so I know what they are worth. Thanks for the info so far. |

Greg, my car came with the reversed gauges, the kph read very well, but the mph is impossible to read at night. The fun part is when I take someone for a cruise they always look over and freak out how fast there not going! |

Heck Greg, why didn't you just say that in the first place! If its not a dual reading head (kilo+mph) you'll have to change anyway or learn the metric system. If its a US dealer, let him swap out the head as part of the deal. Should be no big deal for him. Just curious, whatja have to give for the package and what color?-hope its a yellow ------------------ |

Hi Greg - All you need to do is change the speedo head. No code needs to be reset - simply plug it in. ( No tech required ). Canadian cars also come with a "Daytime running light" module. This can also be removed if desired. I'd suggest to keep the 5mph Canadian bumpers as the US bumpers are rated at 2.5mph ------------------ TonyG@ProwlerOnline.com |
