Finally got my new exhaust installed. Had Denis at Louisville Muffler custom bend an x pipe direct from the cats and ran 2 1/4" pipes through the tunnel where the stock muffler was. Put 18" glass packs at the rear of tunnel area and clamped to existing tailpipes with Borla Exhaust tips.

GREAT sound when accelerating and no noticeable drone at 2000 to 3000 RPM when cruising. Can still carry on converstaion top up or down. It is louder in city traffic or if you leave it in 4th gear cruising under 2000 RPM. I just hope when I install new gears next week that I still don't have the drone on the highway since my Cat is a daily driver.

Happy Prowling

Marty

I think exhaust mods are the most important, the exhaust is something you listen to all the time. I personally don't like the stock exhaust tone.

Congrats, now it's like a new Car.

yPirana - Borla Exhaust tips were on cat when I bought it. The seller got them from carnuts but I believe you can find them several places on web.

Andy - We will arrive at Woodward on Friday afternoon. See you there. Also hoping to get gears installed by then !!

Are you taking Prowler and Viper?

We have non-mopar Borla with stock tips without baffles and love the sound. The Borla came with tips, but they made no difference to the sound. Donny thought the tips were just big cans for looks. It's a personal thing.

Donny;
I have the same system except i have Gibson stainless steel tips. They are the same size as the factory tips but there are no holes from the rivets that were removed. The sound is great. I did not like those big fat carbon fiber tips. I think they take away from the "Hot Rod' look of the car.You might want to advertise them for sale on the site. I did and sold mine for an extraordinary amount.

Any one know if you can get an exhaust system that comes out the sides (under the doors)? Much like the ones the viper used to have. It just seems that they would look perfect on a prowler.

A while back I built my own exhaust systems with "weed sprayer" style--56 chevy, 66 chevelle and 69 olds 442. There's not much after market stuff and you have to be creative to do it yourself. The limit is the frame rails and ground clearance. It would look nice and the idea is worth exploring. Consider the sound--I think It's why I have trouble hearing with my left ear.
