Well, the real reason I didn't wish to put this on the tips thread is that some might think I've gone a little off the edge and may not wish to sit next to me at the next event dinner. A Prowler Car Wash Hose For the Road: I found it in the Griot's Garage catalog which sells good detail products. Called "the hose that puts itself away". It's a small coil hose that is only 38 inches. You could coil this coil and put it in a ziplock. Made of small but tough tubing, it will stretch to 50 feet. That is a long way. Handles 125 psi and delivers 4 to 5 gallons per minute. Described as being for anyone where space is tight. And it winds itself back up the second you release it. The only thing standard about it are the ends which are made to fit on a standard outdoor hose bib (faucet) and on a standard hose nozzle. Most of the roadside Inn's have hose bibs around the property. I see them but seldom find a nearby garden hose. What could be better than this. I use their wastebasket anyway, with a little shampoo, to wipe down the car and this would be the perfect compliment if it's a little extra dirty. Better than the 25 cents car washes that take off all the wax, although I use those too. |

I have to order some product from Griot's anyway so let me add this hose to my list and I'll order tomorrow. Then, I'll get back to you with a report if this little devil is all that it's cracked up to be. The stuff above was from their catalog but I'd like to get my hands on one to try, so I will. And come back. |

Rich, trash can works... Another idea is the collapsable six pack coolers.... some hold more than a six pack... You can pack some clothes in it & when you need to wash - just take the clothes out... ------------------ |

Rich, with a collapsable cooler and this hose, we don't have to be limited to the Best Western. Pull in, in back of the Safeway parking lot or along side any building in a business park, every shop has a hose bib. Shoot the sky is the limit with a small bottle of car wash and a rag. 60 cents more and you carry your own hose bib handle since some get removed. |

Griots is a specialty automotive detail supplier. I buy things there I don't find on chain store shelves. One of the things I like best are their touch up paint applicators. Far better than a paper match end and far, far better that those brushes in the tubes. As a matter of fact I'm doing a little touch up today with those, they are perfect for the chips. I ordered that hose today and will report back on it by the end of the week. I can't afford to be running all over the bloody town looking for it someplace else. |

Here's a couple other items I've purchased from Griot's that you would be totally happy with. He sells a orange shop vac hose that is exactly like those real long, highly flexible vac hoses that the car wash places use. Fits on a standard shop vac. You'll throw your old stiff hose away as soon as you use this. #90505 Also he carries a super bright 4 tube floursecent work light (trouble light). I see these all over with two tubes but those put out less light than a 100 watt light globe. This one puts out more light and of course stays totally cool. #13770 |

Don't buy one of the hoses yet if you haven't already done so! These hoses are very nice and extremely useful. ------------------ This message has been edited by Larry Lord on 07-31-2001 at 06:04 PM |

I don't know why you guys are all hot to put some wet dirty hose away in a plastic bag or otherwise in your Kats?? They do have these really neat gizmo's called Do-it Yourself car washes in almost EVERY podunk town I have ever been to. And guess what ... they DON'T hurt the paint, finish, etc. and do an excellent job of cleaning bugs off the facia and brake dust from the wheels. Cost as little as $1.00 for 5 min even ... WOW! JMO but ... better things to waste your money on than a roll up hose for traveling .... Food for thought. |

Yea, Ray. But, you have to be very careful using these really neat gizmo's. "They do have these really neat gizmo's called Do-it Yourself car washes in almost EVERY podunk town I have ever been to." If you don't put your windows up, the inside of your Prowler will get cleaned just like the outside.... ------------------ |
