I didn't go to a car show in Dayton, Ohio yesterday because the forcast was about a 40% chance for thundershowers. I ALWAYS listen to the forcast before I drive the cat. Then my wife says "how do you know if it will rain if you went to Woodward". She asked if I was ever going to drive in the rain, or go on a trip. I got caught once in the rain and was a little upset. What does everyone else do? Rich ------------------ |

Oh yeah. And stand in the rain to see other cats and my Prowler friends. Proved it again last night at Steak&Shake. ------------------ This message has been edited by IN Phil on 07-26-2001 at 05:09 PM |

I try to avoid driving mine in the rain. Last year at Woodward it rained the day we toured the plant. Everyone drove in the rain with exception of two people that I know of. I drove in the rain also last year to go to the SE Moapr National meet here in Georgia. For me it all depends on how badly I want to attend something or it really wouldn't matter that much if I didn't make it. My Cat has been in the rain three times to date. After the rain at Woodward was the dirtiest it has ever been. I have just under 11,000 miles on it. ------------------ |

OSC - I avoid the rain if possible, but wouldn't call it the end of the world. They do wash up nice! At the Grand Canyon Tour 2000, those attending drove through icy road conditions from Williams to Flagstaff, constant rain at times, and snow falling when returning back to Flagg. What a mud ball mess I had - 8 hours of cleaning brought it back to life. Bring it to Woodward, Ed and GPS will wash and wax the cat for you if it rains! |

If I was out in the kat already - I would drive it home and put it away. But the most fun is to break out the Durango and go either mud jumping or puddle jumping... depends on where I am! ------------------ This message has been edited by cwatsonjr on 07-26-2001 at 05:21 PM |

In two years I'm not sure if I ever left in the rain. However, I've been caught in rain many times & Kat has been in some pretty big rain storms here in Louisiana... Not a problem.... Once wet, I do take Bra off to let dry... 12,000 miles.... Love bugs are much worse than rain here... ------------------ This message has been edited by Laddie Roussel on 07-26-2001 at 05:53 PM |

LeCat- I remember that all too well. But I'd do it again tomorrow! I had the Kat backed in the garage with trailer hooked up ready to leave for Deadwood. Half the car was out of the garage and the trailer and rear end were in. A quick 20 minute storm destroyed the car and barely a drop on the trailer. I never start out in the rain, but boy have we been caught in it. Ask anyone that went to the Cruise to see Patrick Foster. ------------------ |

I guess it really is a personal choice. For me, my cat is a daily driver. I look forward to driving it everyday. I've put over 7000 miles on it since May. As much as I wish that I had another choice for bad weather, especiaaly the half dozen or so snows we get in the winter; I will be driving the black 2000 in all conditions. The way I figure it, I get to have fun driving my cay ALL the time. ------------------ |

In the three years that I've owned my Cat, it has been in the rain three times. In every case I was caught by the rain storm. I usually don't head out if its raining, but I don't run home either if it starts to rain while I'm out. ------------------ |

I have started out in the rain. Car show in Evansville and it was raining, what is a guy to do. Take the bucket, wash mit soap & drying cloths. MOST THE TIME I would never take it out if it was raining. This week I drove it to 25th reunion and it rained while we were out. Driving home I was less than 1 mile from home and thought I drove off the end of a boat ramp. Then I drove to Dayton Yesterday and it was dry on the way there and dry on the way home,BUT, While we were there it POURED 2 X. I think all the Prowler owners enjoyed it even if it did rain. There was 3 black, 2 red, 2 yellow, 1 Purple and 1 silver. The car is fine after the rain. Takes some time to clean but with alittle effort it can be as good as new. DRIVE IT AND HAVE FUN ------------------ |

Been in rain, hail (while driving GPSJohn's car) and a blizzard with 6" of snow on the road on Vail Pass. It all cleans up, and if I ever go to sell the car this post will self destruct. ------------------ |

Paul - I'd do it again tomorrow also. The 8 hour cleanup was worth the price of admission! You need David's hangar to keep them all dry before leaving.

It has been raining everyday lately here in Florida, so my car gets rained on frequently. I got stuck in a major downpour last weekend. But fortunately, the car didn't melt. 24,000 miles. Rained on about 300 times. Still drivable. ------------------ |

Wow im surprised at how many people wouldnt drive their kat in the rain. I mean yes i would prefer to drive it on a sunny day with the top down but i have a couple cars and sometimes either the other one is being worked on or is low on gas i just drive my prowler. I have seen some of the worst rain in my area in my prowler. Like when i went out to the Mopar Atlantic Nats at E-town, it poured soooo bad and i was puttting the car in the show! I remember one lake i had to drive through, it was about 200 ft long and about 6 inches deep, it sucked pretty bad b/c i couldnt see where the hell i was going since the tires were kicking all the water up on the windshield. But i have no fears, i love to drive it and people love to see it no matter what the weather is. Besides, she will always clean up nice... ------------------ Amsoil Engine and Tranny Fluid |

My 2000 never was driven in the rain..in fact the only time it was in the rain was after I traded it for the Mulholland and the dealer left it in their lot. The only time my new Kat was rained upon was at the Texas Motor Speedway event. I have other vehicles for inclement weather and it's just my preference to not drive that car in the rain. I'm with most, I have multiple vehicles to drive, 2 of which I do not drive in the rain (68 vette & 99 Kat) unless I get caught in it. Of course in Texas you know what we say about the weather, "Don't like the weather? Wait 5 minutes, it'll change!" ------------------ |

Now that I refuse to put on the front fenders, if its raining I will not go out, if it looks like 70% chance I will not go out, if it looks like a 50% chance the car will clean up fine if I get caught. Chris is that why your teeth are so bad? ------------------ |

Drive in rain, only if get caught in a shower. The Kat has been in rain about 4 times, none with the new top. I have one of those Kats that is afraid of water! |
