Quick question for all my Cat brothers and sisters out there. I have a 2001 Mulholland, and have a car show buddy who keeps bugging me to paint it Harlequin(In case you don't know it changes 11 different colors.) I love my color know, but noticing how many they made this year kinda gives me the itch to want to be different. Many of you have posted that the cat will never be a collector car, yet some of you say keep it original. Tell me what YOU think? ------------------ |

This decision is totally up to you, not anyone else! If you really like what you have - keep it that way. If you want to be the only one (or one of very few) with a certain look - change. Absolutely NO car is a short term investment, so if your thinking your Kat will increase in value in stock form - it won't. DC has made to many of them for that to happen. If you keep the car for 20-25 years, then you may see a profit worth mentioning. You can't take the car with you when you die, so enjoy it while you have it. If that is setting in the garage or driving it everyday of the year, it is entirely up to YOU. If you have the money (and lots of it for the paint your buddy is suggesting), go for it. The cars that we drive, no matter what they are, make a statement. And we are all individuals, so make YOUR statement with what YOU want to afford. My long winded thoughts on the subject. ------------------ |

dbsjazz......I pretty much agree with SPCL-T..... It's your decision. Did you buy the car for enjoyment or did you buy it to sit in your garage and be admired? If changing is what you want to do, then do it! There have been many discussions about the value and collectibility of the Prowler with many different opinions. Remember, though, that anything that is considered collectible is only worth something if you sell it! SPCL-T is right.... it's your car......enjoy it in any manner you see fit! Besides, you can always repaint it back to the Mullholand Blue! ------------------ Classic/Beautiful - I'm referring to the Cat! |

It seems your buddy is the one that wants to see it a different color. I'd say, "O.K., you pay for it all plus the rental car while it's being done and I'll consider it." I suspect he'll stop making the request after an offer like that. As far as cars go, I think a repainted anything is less then an original (unless you do a totally frame off restoration). Keep in mind too that with most paint jobs, under the hood, doors, trunk, etc., it is still going to be blue and IMO, that would look cheesy. If you can afford it, ignore what anyone else says and follow your own heart. You'll never be sorry! ------------------ |

Lifes too short. Go for what makes you happy. Someone put it in perspective for me. You already bought the elephant don't worry about the peanuts. ------------------ |
