Hey Guys, Next year will be the last production year for the Prowler so hold on to your cars. A midwest Viper/Prowler dealer informed me this weekend at a Viper event. I wish I still had mine........ |

Don't ever believe a dealer. A while back I was told by dealers that 2000 was the last year..... I will believe it when I hear it from to the "Prowler Goddess" CJ. Amen ------------------ |

I use a 'reputable' 5 star dealer - but they are clueless as to DC's marketing strategy. |

Well, if it was John Gastmnan at Roanoke Motors .... forget it ... I heard all the "salesman's Hype" back in '97 & '98 when I was lookin to buy from him then .... I just don't buy it. Prowler will be like energizer bunny .... keep going and going an going ------------------ |

I thought I read it right here on POA, that the sky was falling and they couldn't even give Prowlers away, within the past month. Then I read that sales are about average but they are still going to quit making them. I have it from a very reliable source that the next color is dark green metallic and I promised not to reveal my source in Phoenix. (See Larry I told you I could keep a secret). Why worry about whether they are going to quit making them or not. Enjoy the one you have or enjoy the one you are going to buy or get a job as a lot boy at the Krehel Museum and enjoy all of them. |

You probably have a lot better shot at getting hired where they don't know you or read your posts on this board. Maybe that is why I am unemployed, come to think of it. I wouldn't use any POA members as references, either. lol |

Ray, since you mentioned John Gastman by name, as well as Roanoke Motors, I'm stepping in here to set a couple of things straight. First of all, have you been to his dealership? Have you experienced his way of doing 5-Star Customer Service? Have you met his Viper/Prowler mechanic? Have you actually had a serious discussion with anyone at this dealership? I have. I bought all my Chrysler Corporation Cars from John and his dealership. I'll be buying my future vehicles from him as well. Be very careful of whose toes you choose to step on. I'll agree with you that there are some dealers out there that will do whatever it takes to sell a car including whatever form of persuasion they think they can get away with, but when you start making accusations that are unfounded and defamatory, please have your "facts" straight. Roanoke Motors and John Gastman are top notch, and I personally resent your remarks! Finding a quality dealership is hard enough sometimes, but to suggest that one of the finest around is less than honorable - that crosses the line! Please Ray, go blow your smoke somewhere else. Honestly, these petty attacks of yours are getting old! Just the opinion of a VERY satisfied customer of Roanoke Motors (and my credibility speaks for itself as does that of Roanoke Motors!) Hey John S ... I DO have my facts straight. To answer your questions: Yes, yes & yes to all three. La dee da that you bought from him and are satisfied. Reminds me of an old saying; one man's trash is another man's treasure, and visa versa I would imagine as well. Glad you had and are having a good experience -- I for one did not. I wasn't defamatory (boy, some people like to toss that word out here a lot) I just simply said "I had heard all THE salesman hype" and that "I don't buy it." These are statements of fact and not deragatory (car salesmen NOT spewing BS?!? -- where are you OZ rather than IL?) Get my point? I got yours ... (Zzzzzzzzzz) ------------------ |

Ray, you also neglect to acknowledge you are refering to a reputable dealer in very negative tones, calling John Gastman out by name, and suggesting what is otherwise a misrepresentation of him and his dealership. When your activities start targeting people in this way, especially my dealer, I will speak out with a counter view, representing a more truthful perspective on Roanoke Motors. Expect nothing less from me. I'm all for free speech, but along with this comes a responsibility which often times is not accepted. When I see an injustice such as your reference to a quality dealership, I will defend this person and his business. I think I can speak for many people on this board as I will ask you to please be a little less hostile and perhaps a bit more responsible with your posts. Warmest Regards, ------------------ |

John calm down, I am an outsider and I just read right thru Ray's note. After your tone I went back and read closer. I have had good and bad experiences with other dealers in other areas. No dealer is perfect and the sales people represent the owner. Think about it. Please let him say what is on his mind and just move on. It was 1997-98 time frame. Did the dealer sale at cost or jack the price up? I don't go for that. Did you pay over list? When did you buy? Why not pay him extra? Did he give you the first one in at cost, I think not. |

THANK YOU Viper93 ... JohnS is quite dillusional it seems. Yes, I mentioned dealer and sales person by name ... none of this cloak and dagger mystery crap with me "a midwest viper/prowler dealer informed me ..." If you can't state facts and details and up to your posts then don't post. If you don't like what is written, don't read it. I said "salesman hype", for the second time, I don't care if the person I am referring to is a geat friend of mine who also happens to be in the car business ... it is STILL salesman hype. And yes ... was on a waiting list with Gastman for over a year. He held my money along with 6 others before me. Yes, he got Prowlers, most from other dealers (he claims) and not direct through DC. Yes, he charged a HEFTY premium for these cars and NOT ONE of the folks on the "list" (so I am told) whoes deposit he held received one -- Gouging, plain and simple. Upset me for counting on him? -- definetly. Did I say Stay Clear of Roankoke Motors or John Gastman? NO JohnS, I did not! Maybe YOU need to take your hidden agenda elsewhere and chill out. John was nice to talk to, told me a lot of stuff, and not 1/2 of it was accurate .. thus my post to say "if it was John at Roanoke motors .. forget it" meaning, the rumor is probably just that. Plus, DC tells dealers what they want the dealer to know, not necessarily the truth, buddy ... wise up. Lastly, JohnS ... don't resort to threats so quickly before knowing the facts ... "Be very careful of whos toes you step on" .. what exactly does THAT mean? I am sure that our site's benefactor will frown on such use of threats ... or so I hope. Prowl on and see ya in line to buy a 2005 Prowler ... as they will keep going and going and going ------------------ |

I'm reminded of the local 5-star dealer that I had bought our 2000 Silver from (it had a sticker on it for $65K but, they sold it to me for actual sticker). Anyway, not 7 months later I wanted a 2001 Black-Tie. I went in and talked to the salesman. Didn't have a clue what a black-tie was. I explained and explained to no avail. He called over the GM who also was clueless. After about 30 minutes more of explaining, the GM got out a huge binder book and thumbed through it. "Oh, yeah", he said, they do make one (How could they be a 5-star dealer and not know what products they sell??). So I told him I wanted to buy one. Both the salesman and the GM said they would investigate and call me first this on Monday. Well, I waited a week and then called out of state and bought one. I kept it for about 7 months and sold it last April. FYI-to date, they have never called me (and that would have been a repeat sale in less then 8 months)..... ------------------ Mods: 2001 Speed Yellow Porsche Cabriolet |
