Have a mobil service come over and do a repair, the windshields on the Prowlers are way thin. This will stop the the chip starting into a crack. Good luck Should only cost about $75.00 |

DW - replaced or repaired for $218? Sounds low for a full replacement? I hear that replacement windshields are never as good as the originals - fact or fiction??? Thanks. |

Not really sure Larry, the problem is if they do an improper install the windshield could leak or worse pop out , just make sure you go to a place that comes highly recommended and that they use latex gloves so they keep the oils off the edges of the windshield so a proper seal will take place and the glue will adhere properly. ------------------ |

Thanks, I've seen some terrible installs, like glue crap running down the sides. Must have gotten the ten free meals with that deal. I have three very small rock chips on the passenger side, and one horizontal small stress fracture appearance one right in the driver's vision. Not bad enough to react just yet, as they have been there for months. |

Many insurance companies will pay the entire price of the repair, because in the end it saves allot on money rather than paying for a replacment. ------------------ |

Potential collector cars like these and Corvettes all retain higher value in original condition (don't shoot the messenger all you modified fans) -- which includes the original dated windshield. I would go the repair route (which is FULLY covered by insurance with ZERO deductible - had it done on another of my cars) and if done by a reputable place, it will serve it's purpose of preventing a chip from turning into a crack. Good luck! ------------------ |

JD, The part was a mopar part. I am able to get parts at cost being in the business. I had a Glass Co I use here install it. They did it for free and the problem I had was the molding around it was streached and curved up on the corners. They installed a new molding and everything is fine. I was amazed at the cost. If memory serves me correctly, list was over 1k. If you need help on this i will see if I can arrange for one to be shipped??? Don |

Todd ... Yes, almost every major, and many monor parts all have some sort of date coding that is embossed or stamped on eac and every part. In 20 years when people go to restore a Prowler, they will be searching for parts that carry date codes that coincide with the production date ... wlecometo the world or collector car ownership and future restoration!! That is hy when you remove something from your car ... never, never, never throw it away! ------------------ |

I looked for the date on the windshield... found the cute Chrysler logo, but nothing that seemed to have a date. Same thing with the side windows. ------------------ |

My parents take me out driving to practice a couple times a week. It's really not that hard and the police here are not suspicious. I think many people with kids on POA have taught their kids how to drive early.- Danny ------------------ |

If you want to keep it perfect, you'll have to put it away and guard it with your life. Then somewhere down the road it will be worth whatever. If you want to have the pleasure of driving the cat, it will get the inevitable result. Owners of older cats have figured out the ways of getting it fixed, and all you have to do it follow their advice. If you're not sure, just ask. Betcha most of us will say go for the fun. ------------------ |

Driving without a license???? Your parents must be nuts or you are lying. If you were to have an accident or worse yet injure someone, no insurance company would pay and your folks would be liable. Lable me suspicious, no sensible adult would allow a 14 year old to drive a 40K + car with no license. Not me anyway Alex ------------------ |

well...I was driving our Mazda at 14, without a license... while it was not 40K,it was the family's only car and a lot of $ to us. I know of many other family's who teach their kids to drive at a young age. ------------------ |

My dad taught me to drive our motorhome at 14.. I didn't solo at 14, not even at 15 or 16 but I knew how to drive it and it is A LOT tougher to manuver than a kat! ------------------ |
