Hi, everybody! Posting from the beautiful home of our friends, Dwayne and Carol Herman in Estes Park, CO nestled in the spectacular Colorado Rocky Mountains! The journey began after a late start due to the power being out at our home for 24 hours! Some lady decided to take out a power pole. So, we didn't leave Friday as planned, we left Saturday morning. Received a call from our good friend, John Schulz. He drove up to meet us on I-80 for lunch! It was great to see you again, John and we had fun, too. It was a nice break. Stopped in Omaha, NE for the night. My arms were tired from waving to everyone (not counting the driving) who was waving to us and my face hurt from smiling too much! Left Omaha Sunday a.m., having to drive across NE with a bad head wind. Temps made it to 103 degrees! Made a stop in Ft. Morgan, CO for gas. While we were fueling and cleaning windows, another Prowler drove into the gas station! Of course, I ran over and introduced myself and started a conversation with the guy. His name is Tim. His last name was something that sounded similar to Googenheim! He had just bought a new Mullholland Blue. I gave him one of my POA flyers and one of my cards. He asked where we were headed, so I told him about the Deadwood event and that we were on our way to Estes for a week prior. He really wants to go! I told him to get online and register so that he can post. He asked a lot of questions about the Prowler, checked out my mudflaps and we gave him a lot of hints. I invited him to come with us on Sunday to cruise to Estes Park and over Trail Ridge Road. He said he would try to make it. Also said there was another couple in Ft. Morgan who have a black Prowler. I gave him our cell phone number and he said he would call and let me know if he could arrange to go on Sunday. I hope he makes it! I told him it would be a great opportunity to meet some other Prowler owners, especially some others from Colorado. Ended up standing in the gas station talking for at least a half hour! On to Estes Park where the weather was a little cooler..in the 80's. When we got to Loveland, we unloaded the cat from the trailer so that I could drive it up the Big Thompson Canyon to Estes! I have wanted to drive it in the mountains from the first day I got it! Top down and off we went. It was so awesome!!! I left Bob somewhere in the canyon.....he told me to go for it............so I did!! Wow, does this cat handle the mountain roads!!!! It is so gorgeous here...........am so glad to be back home again!!! We took a drive this evening with Dwayne and Carol up to Rocky Mountain National Park (my favorite hang-out). Drove up Trail Ridge Road (not with the cat, though) and over the top down to Grand Lake. Visited with her daughter and son-in-law (they run the stables in Grand Lake) and back over the top again to go to dinner. We saw so much wildlife (it was dusk). Herds of elk, big bulls and females with young ones. Even saw a Moose on the Grand Lake side! Lots of deer! Came around a curve and a HUGE elk stepped up onto the road right in front of us. Good thing we weren't going fast!!! Was a great day and looking forward to tomorrow!!! PaulR and LarryS..........you are going to love staying here with us!!!! Dwayne & Carol love my cat!! I took Carol for a ride around town! Got the usual thumbs up and waving and hooting!! She couldn't believe it! Dwayne asked her how she liked it...........she said she was going to need help getting all the bugs off her teeth!!!! If we are having this much fun already............can't wait for Crazy Horse!!! Talk to you all tomorrow!!! ------------------ This message has been edited by CJ on 06-27-2001 at 01:50 AM |

WELCOME HOME CJ AND BOB Glad you made it here and all is well. How could it not be, you are back in Colorado. Looking forward to meeting you guys Monday and doing some cruising. Tell me you are driving and not trailering to Deadwood. Watch out for those snow snakes and ice mice when in the high country. ------------------ |

Thanks for the welcome, Alex. Am anxious to meet you! I have something for you, too!! Thanks to you, too, Marc for the welcome home. The only part I hate about coming back here is having to leave again. Don't worry.......I am driving to Deadwood!!!!! Bob is trailering!!! Marc, it doesn't sound like you will be able to join us on Sunday for the cruise? Alleycat....don't worry, there is plenty of fun to go around! You won't need Ed's snow tires, there isn't much snow left on the high peaks. Lots of beautiful things to see, though!!! Can't wait to see you. Paul.....hurry up and get here! There is a really great place I have to take you and Jody to when you get here!!! Heheheheh! Jody will love it!!!! Rich and Todd.....wish all of you could be at Deadwood!!! Was another beautiful day up here. Somewhere in the 80's. We spent the day relaxing, driving the cat around downtown Estes and taking care of some very special business!!! Took another ride in the park....I can never get enough of it! I wish I had my digital hard drive with me so I could post some pictures!!! Toooo beautiful!!! Tomorrow is a trip to Aurora to see my brand new grand-niece and up to Cheyenne for a visit with family. WILL EVERYONE PLEASE HURRY UP AND GET HERE!!!!!???? ------------------ This message has been edited by CJ on 06-27-2001 at 01:48 AM |
