Ok you guys/gals,
I know what jd2k feels like now......

I was out the other evening minding my own business and enjoying the weather. When all of a sudden I got caught by a red light not too far from home. Low and behold a new Corvette pulls up in the other lane by the Kat. I have a date with me and didnt really feel up to the challenge he was offering up by "gunning" his engine I looked over at my date and gave her a wink in hopes of her approval. She smiled and I eagerly gave the vette owner the nod of approval. We waited for what seemed to be a VERY long light! Eventually I changed and we took the green.
I had just returned from Big "D" getting a new set of rubber for the rear from Chris (cnote6) and I really didnt want to be leaving it on the roadway just in one spot. However, I made the choice (as tough as it was) to accept the challenge. ok, ok, back to the Whoop-A$$ story...... So as we took the green, I glanced over to see the vette lundge forward. It was obvious he was quicker on the pedal than I was. However, I was still focused on the fact that if I pressed my pedal through the alum floor pan I could still beat him. As I proceded to do this, I noticed the front emblem of his car moving to the rear and out of my view. As I started noticed the rear end of his car start to enter my rearview mirror, I realized the cloud of smoke he was sitting in was created by his rear tires just sitting in one spot.(hee hee)
I proceded on to the posted speed limit and kept it there not wanting to endanger our lives by racing to some uncontrolable speed. After all, I consider a good 7-10 car legnths ahead of someone, to be the winner of the race. In what I thought to me a minute or two, I saw this yellow flash, as in maybe a glare from the sun in the rear view(??) go past me. I noticed as I arrived at the next light, there was this yellow vette sitting there. The driver looking very simular to the one I just took.
Well, he gave me that "smitten" look like he was willing to take his punishment again. I fumbled with my fingers on the back of the steering wheel to turn "I cant drive 55" by Sammy Haggar down on the CD player long enough to tell him...... "I have my little 8 yo daughter in the car so I cant race" story. As if to give him the impression that the last little A$$ whoppin he got from me was just every day "normal" driving..........

Do I hear a "fadding" Heartbeat?......LMAO!!!!

Happy Prowlin everyone

Way to go Don- I have enjoyed playing with my share of Vettes & Stangs. The first 1/4 is what I'm thankful for, because after that their V8's kick in!

Is your kat modified? Obviously the vette owner is a dumb a&&. He must have turned off the active handling. If it was on, no tire smoke. Strange event.

I was glad to hear that you backed off and refused to race. Up here in New York last night, a Diablo and a Vette raced each other. The Diablo lost control, killing himself, injuring his passenger (his wife), killing the innocent driver he hit head on and injuring that poor man's wife. Next time some low testosterone jerk in a hopped up car challenges you, please just let it go.

fatman.....its purely stock and rarely do I race.....to prove that, I didnt even race at TSW. If I do contest, It merely to the "posted speed limit" and from a red light as I stated.....

Trey, I hardly think what I did was wrong and endangered both she and I anymore than everyday driving......I resent you comment. There are other members in and out of the area that know me and how much I value the life of my "one and only"

You can resent it all you want but, as a father of two beautiful small baby girls I can't even fathom a quick start with either of them in the car. Nor would I do it with them out of the car and possibly injury someone elses little bundle of joy.

Perhaps if you knew someone paralyzed from the neck down, hit by someone who thought they were in control while street racing.

Perhaps if you knew of a small girl who darted out into the street only to be killed by someone street racing.

Perhaps if you saw a family torn apart as someone street racing lost control and crashed their hot rod into a families living room.

Maybe you thought you could control your "hard start" but, what about the vette smoking his tires? What if he lost control, accelerated, and t-boned your prowler. Who's side of the car would he have hit? Can you afford to loose your child?

I'll say it again:

Racing with an 8 y.o. in the seat next to you?
Bright...real bright.

And Trey,

I see we have more in common than just our cars.....Sailboats. Wanna race? Your interest says sailboats and "racing"....or is that before you "saw the light" and no longer race?

Racing is a sport.........I guess your not a sportsman? Either that or CHICKEN???? What part of the Gulf Coast are you on? If your in the Galveston Bay area we need to test skills out on the water. You obviously cant put up or shut up.......come on old man, give your self a challenge on beating this young whipper-snapper. Unfortunately I wont get any pleasure out of it because.....well, I'll be nice and leave it at that

You guys are killing me! Do you mean that none of you hit the throttle at a stop light? Come on, be real. Koz said he raced at a stop light, I say more power to him. Just because some new yorker bit the dust racing doesnt mean a time honored tradition of dragging from a light should stop. Maybe if the new yorker wasnt driving a rolling piece of junk called a diable, he would still be hear and no one else would have been injured. Hey I spent 2 days in a hospital with head injuries while racing, and it did not stop me. When it is your time its your time. But enough of that bottom line if you guys can sit at a stop light and night hit it when asked, .....oh well. I will be willing to bet that more people die on the streets of america just minding their own business than do racing. I am totally freaked out by the comments of the members of the board regarding Koz and his "race". Koz I live in Houston, and I say pedal to the metal my man! (p.s my 4 year old know 100mph, and loves it), and guess where I learned to love it!

Thanks Dad(68 olds cutlass ss, I was 8!)

P.S. to Trey, Love to see how your mod does against mine. But, oops sorry never mind that wouldnt be prudent. Nevertheless, when you need to see how slow that Cabby is let me know my wife loves chewing them up!

2000c-5 Corvette 420 dyno tested rear wheel.

Any time any place. Man I just love to watch a race, should I sit at this light or should I wait. I see cabby in my rearview, pretty color too, I let off the throttle so I can see, but alas its a red light and he wants none of me. So on I go sailing threw the night, man oh man I dream of a stop light. Beacuse thats where, I'll line lock till 5500 and when the smoke begins to clear that gooffy cabby is still in the rear! Peace out my friends for it is time for me to go. I'll just park it in the garage, but at least I know, it will look pretty groovy for the next car show.

Oh Chrome,
Its all in good fun. I never meant to offend anyone. I'm sure he has, as well as anyone who owns a prowler, put it to the test. And if he hasnt, he's one of the few. His beef was with the fact I had my 8yo with me.
When a writer writes a story, he writes to captivate/entertain/move his reading audience. I did just that. I wrote my story in such a way I "moved" him in a manner in which he got pissed. You know, if it had been inches or car legnths, it wouldnt have mattered. All I know is the vette spun his tires on take off and I took him from the start. I had no intention of pushing anything any further because of my daughter being with me. If and when I have accepted a challenge, its been from a red light and at posted speed I back off. Plain and simple.
I am a single parent and I value my "bundle of joy" as well. I live and breathe for her every day. She is all I have. The message was to entertain the club members no matter how much I made the story interesting/appauling. We had a few punches at each other after I told him to "kiss my a**" in an off line email. Then I decided to put it back in here and make a few laughs. I like to push a button now and then. LOL Just ask any of my crew/staff!! LOL Oh well, Its time to cut it off though. He or I might get our feelings hurt and that is not what the club is about. Its about the cars and the fun we have in them! And if we cant post them or have a little fun in here, whats the use in joining RIGHT? My little one loves the car and she thinks that she's just the "Bomb" when we go out for a date in it We make it a PRIORITY to have a "date" to the icecream parlor every Saturday night.

Have a good time everybody......My apology to everyone

Meet one of the few then. Punching it, street racing.
No way, too dangerous. My life is too valuable as
are those other people/kids potentially on any
road/street

His beef was with the fact I had my 8yo with me.

That's a major part of it as any parent should know
better but, in general, street racing can and does
mame and kill people (did you not even read the post
about the viper/lambo wreck?)

I wrote my story in such a way I "moved" him in a manner in which he got pissed.

No, not at all, upset that your daughter had to be in the car or others possibly on the street while you did this, yes.

All I know is the vette spun his tires on take off and I took him from the start.

What if that vette had spun out of control and hit your prowler? Who's door would he have crushed? Yours or your daughters?

The bottom line is that street racing kills. I have seen too many people mamed, killed or left father/brotherless because of it. And for what? Bragging rights? Twenty bucks?
What is worth the risk of killing yourself or others who do not want to be a part of your fun?

I know, you were in control, you weren't going that fast, etc. It's dellusional. I've heard the same from drug addicts or alcoholics who thought they had it under control too.

I have no problem with racing provided it's done in the proper forum (ie. the race/drag track). If you go there, knock yourself out, race till you drop, I'll cheer you on.
But on the street, no way.

The sad thing is that you won't get it until they scrape someone off your car or you off someone elses. Pity.
