Was at a car show last night and having a good time. Lots of different cars, lots of folks enjoying them. As I went to leave there is a jerk walking behind my car as I'm pulling out and he says "this is about classics, not about money." Now I heard what he said but I didn't know if he meant me to hear it. At first I got really pi$$ed off. I felt like stopping and asking him if he knew his butt from a hole in the ground. Is he stupid enough to believe that restoring a car does not cost A LOT of money. I know there were cars at this show that had much more money invested in there beauties than mine. I have some significant modifications on my Kat but that doesn't count either apparently in his eyes. I stayed calm and just went on my way but what a jerk. Just another instance of our cars getting no respect.

Spending a 150 k on a Rod and selling 6 months later for 75 doesn't make any sense either.

Bob, it was well stated in an earlier post.."some people get it an some people don't!" Easy to see that this clown doesn't! If you can make the Woodward Dream Cruise, you will see up to 2 million people who are only there to enjoy cars of all kinds...and they do enjoy the Prowler and aren't afraid to show it.

I learned at every cruise in, etc., you have the same person you have in computers.... The one guy who knows it all and is so sure he does that he has to talk loudly to his female companion or child about everything. They dont even realize they are embarrasing themselves.

I get em every time now with Supercharger.. I hear em say "oh, a stock Prowler" and I say, now get your *** under the hood and look again and let me know whats different.

They are always too dumb to notice, even the small white "supercharged" sticker I left as a hint... Makes them look dumb and you did nothing

I bought the Prowler after I realized I could buy dime a dozen muscle cars for 10-20k, but not being a gearhead, this was a good solution

"Don't argue, or respond to an idiot - if you do, he will lower you to his level and win by experience".

"The person with the strongest opinion is often the one with the least knowledge".

I've learned its best to not respond to negative comments from people for the above philisophical reasons.

I wonder if that clown can spell Jealous... People like that always try to bring you down to make themselves feel better and the more you do in life the more of those you meet.

Glad I haven't run into someone like him. Most car people are very nice. Went by a gathering of Vipers yesterday. They all honked and waved. If I would have had time I would have joined then.... after all, Cat and Snakes are soul mates aren't they!

Same here - have met nothing but nice peeples. Yesterday when we were coming home from church in the kat (the boys were gone for the week) we came up on either a Muscle Car Club or a Mopar Muscle Car Club or something - there were about 10 Mopars - Dodges and Plymouths and 1 Ford Galaxy convertable... One guys plate was LIME AID - it was perfect for the car! Some some great cars and everyone of them gave us a thumbs up as we passed by them drooling.

BTW - the leader (with a Mopar flag) was a nice young lady driving a very nice Duster!

I get comments like that all the time. Most I will ignor, but when a guy is driving a plastic wantabe, I let him have it, They are no more a `30 something than our car and I let them know it. Plus they probable have more in it than I do and most bought it and did not build it themselves.

People still have the misconception that the cars cost more than they do. Sue took the car to a show yesterday and I met her after work. As I was putting things away to go home a guy ask how much did I had in the car about $100,000.

Boyd Coddington will build you a car for oh starting at $150,000 or so and who will repair it for the 1st 3 year 36,000 miles.

I am totally new to all of this to begin with, and over the past month I have already been in four car shows. I know I am safe when there are a line of PT Cruisers in the bunch. All of the shows in my area feature and are open to everyone. There are 2001 Vets, Vipers, etc.

I don't think we are in different position then about 50-60% of those people anyway. . .That is why most of the finished cars were bought that way. . . I don't see any difference in spending $X for an old rod that someone else did all of the work on, a kit car, or driving proudly in my Prowler.

Bottomline at least we are all better then those 60% that pretend they rebuilt their car, or that "it isn't really a kit". . . Everyone knows what we have.

3 out of the 4 shows I was the only Prowler. . .That should show that there is a need for them at the shows in my area.

I have only had nice comments so far. I was even invited to join the local Classic Chevy Club in my area because the President of the Club loves the car. . .lol. . .go figure!

I have been welcomed with open arms at all car shows and cruise nights I have attended. Only negative comment I oveheard was that I ruined my Kat with pin stripe flames. I started to reply but the thought to myself ,what do I care I like them and I did them for me and no one else.

As the oldest Prowler owner (114) I might pull over, park and ask to see his car. Often times when you do this they get real quiet.

Sometimes I take my Delorean to cruise night and I really enjoy hearing the "experts" explain to their group how each car came with drugs, there made out of aluminum, they are still available new for around $60K, they were made in Denver and so on....

Anyway, time for my evening Geritol. Don't let them get you down. Often times, after you aske to see their car, they leave and kickstart their bicycle and ride off into the sunset.

Every car has its own personal identity. How old it is, who put it together and what it is worth doesn't matter. Every car has its own spirit, and some of us have the good fortune to be owned by one that is very special. Like the cat.

I ve been through this to many times. I believe they are just:

A. Envious
B. Lack good social skills
C. Possess an overabundance of stupidity.
D. Cannot afford a car that is qualified to enter any show.
E. Own a 32 lookalike with a LT4, Nova front clip and SOCAL BODY and frame, built by someone else that they bought in 1998. SO its a 1998 right.

What really sends them around the bend is when I leave with the Trophy and they are shut out. I have just a few Trophies. The last Laugh is on them! "Stupid Englisk KANIGITS!"
