Do not stand outside the Prowler and lean into the car and release the seat back. The best that will happen is that you will have a headache for a few days, the worst is that you could bend the steering wheel and go thru the windshield. This was discovered first hand by more than myself. The seat back comes forward like a rocket ship. I was removing the CD cassette when I did it.
Another tip is to always tie down your top with the tie down straps, otherwise it vibrates enought to wear a hole in the top from the inside. There is a portion of the trunk in the middle top that sticks out about 2 inches further than the rest of the trunk and the carpetting actually frayed my top at the edge of the rear window.
Anyone ekse have any tips to share with the newer people to avoid mishaps?

Don't take your significant others to Home Depots if you are going to drive your cat there!

Caution - The nose sticks out further than you think. You will learn this when you scrape (or bump) your first curb.

If you park the car inside(most of us do) leaving the window down makes it much easier to enter and exit the car....remember NEVER to park by touch....don't let the front or rear tires touch a curb...the nose or tranny cooler will touch before the tires...advise passengers to put their feet way out when getting out of the car so they don't scuff the side of the car, I usually tell them it may be hot and they will make an extra effort to clear the panel...close trunk by the center brake lite, not the edges...don't back up over tall curbs with mudflaps on, they may catch the curb first and tear off the front fender...

T.IN Blue.

Good point on the trunk lid I thought I'd closed mine by the side when I first got it, POW it blew up when I took off from the shopping centre, how imbaressing not to mention the damage it caused, and don't pull a me and look at something you should be waiting to look at AFTER YOU PARK it is so bad when you bounce off the curb and curse out loud because you know what has just happened to the front of your pride and joy

Calm down and breathe deep when you discover an unknown passenger sitting in the car. Avoid Home Depot's if you are married.

I have always tied the top down with straps and the top is seldom up. But with recent concerns I have started tucking the top down near the latch with a detailing towel so it can't pinch. Also when someone asks what that wire loop is sticking out behind the seat, I tell them it is the drag chute.

Am I the only one that rolls in and out of their cat???
I need to go on a diet!

This is one thing that is common sense: NEVER leave tools or drop light on top of engine when closing the hood - could be a $3,000 error. Also, have nothing stored on your garage ceiling above your cat - what goes up must come down.

Ed,
You are sooooo right about the thing sticking out in the
middle of the trunk rubbing against the top. It was so sharp
it put a hole in my top!! D/C replaced the entire top. No
charge!! I put a piece of duct tape over it after they sanded it dull.

Be careful, when cleaning under the rear bumpers, that you don't cut your hand on the sharp tail pipes.

Lower your hood about halfway and drop it closed. Do not lower gently and then try to push it closed with your hand. You will likely create a dent in the hood. Cover your Bumpers (if you still have them) before spraying tire cleaner on the tires. Especially Westleys .

Have your foot on the gas (accelerating) when manually shifting from first to second or you will get whiplash.

CJ, VERY funny. I even learned a few new ones. I don't know if I hear the gas cap click. I better start paying attention.
Mike, I like the drag chute one, too.
Another tip, your driver's seat can be raised when you are NOT sitting on it with one of the latches on the side. It is not powerful enough to lift Salzman, obviously. To lower it you must be sitting on it.

Caution, do not drive this vehicle unless you want to be stared at... and don't for a minute think they want to know the person driving it either.
