Has anyone taken there car in for an ALL wheel alignment yet? I've been in the process of repairs from my trip up to Maine (truck tire tread on Ohio turnpike), and the local 5-Star dealership can NOT do, or even check the alignment. Their equipment won't fit the 20" rims. I thought that the original dealerships that were allowed to sell the Prowlers, were required to have (or acquire) the necessary tooling to work on these cars. Isn't this why they had to invest $10K for tooling & training (their reasoning for the initial exorbitant prices)? Before you ask, this is the same place I bought the car from back in early '98. Any suggestions? I'll be making multiple phone calls tomorrow, trying to find someone here in New England that can accomplish this basic vehicle maintenance.

Sorry that I can't help with your alignment question. But I also thought that dealers selling these cars had to have the necessary tools to work on them. I have a new wheel on order and have to go to a different dealer to have it put on b/c my dealer doesn't have a tire machine that can handle 20" rims. I might be wrong, but I thought only FWD cars could get a 4 wheel wheel alignment?

Daryl,
any car with 4 wheel independent suspension, front or rear
wheel drive can get a 4 wheel alignment.

Had the same problem gettin my car aligned. Ended up at a Truck shop(18-wheeler, big trucks and RV's) that was authorized Goodyear service center as well as alignment shop. Tech was a Harley and Corvette owner and took special care to handle the Prowler right.

There are 2 5-Star dealerships here in AZ that have the equipment to do wheel alignments on the prowler. I called several places; actually had one dealership refer me to another because they didn't have any idea. Took my car in and it took a little while before they realized they didn't have what they needed - but they were more than happy to order the upgraded equipment. Took the car back the next week, had the alignment done and wow, what a difference! I found out afterward that another dealer already had the whole set up. Can get you the name & number of the service manager if you want further information.

Debbie, did you have the front end off, or just decide to get it checked and brought to specs? Can you describe the change? I tried to get mine done locally, but they didn't have the Prowler #'s in the puter.

Al, took the car in because it was all over the road. (and that was holding onto the wheel with both hands, not going 90mph and laying off the alcohol....) Seriously, it was very squirlly over 40 mph but awful at 90 - couldn't have as much fun on the Death Valley trip because the car just didn't want to cooperate. Everyone thought I was imagining it until the front tires began to wear. Now, I didn't go into the shop and watch what they did for the alignment and I can't say what the correct specs are - I have no idea. I can say that the car handles great now and I have no more problems. btw - have 30,320 miles on the kitty now..... as much fun to drive today as the first day!

Debbie

Thanks Deb. I'm going to get mine checked just to make sure.
I've only been in my car and have no basis of comparison. Any of you multiple owners see a difference from car to car?

It makes me think! I'm gonna have mine checked before we leave for SD. It has seemed a little squirrelly. I think my dealer has to send out for the wheels, so I will check into it first thing in the a.m.

Good move Paul-mine seems to "hunt" a little, an indication of toe-out. Gonna get mine checked when I get my cat back.

All mine handle the same, but the more miles the smoother the ride becomes.
