I found 1/2 inch crack by the tailight. It's on the inside at curved edge. Seems to be stress fracture in composite fender. Have'nt been to dealer yet. Anyone else have same problem? ------------------ |

Hey now hey now, I just had my left rear fender replace under warranty for a crack like you describe. The district rep had to approve it but its done and the paint even matched very well. The crack is off the inside lower corner of the tail light??? ------------------ |

Hey now, it took a week to get the fender and another to get the paint to match. I think they ended up going with sherwin williams paint............the PPG they mixed didn't match. ------------------ |

I have a crack in my right rear fender, but above the center point of the tire. I made an appointment with the zone rep., but she never showed! I hope to have it replaced under warranty. The dealer said they wanted to just patch it up, but I said I want a whole new fender. |

I had the same crack on the left rear corner by the taillamp assembly. It wasn't there until my tech put on the mudflaps with air impact wrench. They tried to fix it, but still looks like cr@p! They offered to replace like Jerry's, but haven't decided on that yet. I think a GOOD fiberglass man can fix this correctly! ------------------ |

What colors do all you guy's have? I know for a fact that they had problems with Silver. It took as many as seven coats of paint to get the color they were looking for. In a lot of cases, this was to much paint, and caused the fenders to become brittle and crack. This could happen the same day of painting, or several weeks later. I also know that they had a hard time with the yellow (turning green if any dirt was present). I do not know much about the other colors, but I'm sure that I can find out - given some time. I am not aware of any issues with the molding of the fenders in these area's. DC is still using the same supplier from day one. ??? ------------------ |

Hey now, mine was cracked when I bought the car but I didn't notice it till about a week after. I found this site like 3 months after I bought. Learned of the mudflaps and got a set. I think its a stress crack from the fender flexing while driving.......... ------------------ |

Mine is yellow and I do have the mud flaps but crack is only on right side fender. Seems to me if it was due to fender flexing it would occur on both fenders. I'll see what the dealer says and push for a replacement. Wish me luck. ------------------ |

I managed to crack the fender right by the tailight when I backed up into our van on the black, BARELY it the van, but it was enough to break the bumber bracket and crack the fibre glass, I had the fender fixed and 7000 miles later you still cannot tell it was done. The bumber however was a total loss due to DC not selling the bracket by itself, $600 of bumper, and $1100 total! ------------------ |

I just noticed I have a small stress crack at the rt rear fender at the lower corner of the tailight. What's the current status on repairs for this type. I used the search function, can these rear fenders be repaired ? should I leave it alone ? This message has been edited by Duane Curto on 03-01-2003 at 08:37 PM |

I also have the crack on the left rear fender at the lower inside radius. It's a '97 that I bought as new last year, with full warranty. I assumed that the fender had been damaged by someone during the years of storage. Now that I hear it's a common stress failure, I think I'll take it in to have it replaced under warranty. Thanks for bringing up the subject. I was just going to live with it. |

Kid, it's normally comes from people tightening the mud flaps tooooooooooooooo tight, I would think it would be ok if you physical can't see it, good luck and congrats,,, Say hello to Mom GC |

Mine is not quite that obvious, but that's the same crack ! hmmmmm. I think it's the bezel gasket putting pressure in that area, or it's from the assembly line during installation. |

Kraut..thanks for posting the photo's. No cracks on my '99 Black yet. I was just getting ready to order some wheel spacers. May be another reason not to order the spacers because I know the stock tires sometimes rub on the fender perhaps increasing the chance of a crack?! |

I waxed mine Friday and noticed a small crack on top of the left rear fender, dead center. Nothing around the tail lights - yet! I guess it's a problem we are all starting to notice. ------------------ |
