Gears, or not to gears - that is the question. I've read many comments, and my drag racing experience from yester year agree's with most of them. I have written an e-mail to ProwlerPro for literature (1 wk ago), but have not received a reply as of yet.

Are they worth the $2K+? Should I, or shouldn't I? I live way up in the northeast, so I must have local mechanic or myself install them. Any input will greatly be appreciated.

Hey now, I think the gears are great for romping around town. They are a little too tall for the drag strip though. 3rd gear is used up before the traps but the gears will turn your stock, non tire spinning prowler into a smoker and it will even catch second...................

Gears are the cheapest performance addition you can do to you car and easiest to remove for long events, I highly recommend them for making the Prowler run like how it looks, fast.

Your 0-60mph times will be in the very low 5's. the gears are worth 8/10's of a second.

The gears are great and will really wake the car up. I think the price is too high, but until there is an alternative, this is the best game in town. The top end compared to the stock gear ratio is not compromised, and you lose about 3 -4 MPG over the road-not too bad. Easy install too, if you have any mechanical sense, you can do it yourself with minimal tools.

Gary, are you saying that you don't recommend them for highway driving? Say having them in for a trip from Cleveland to Woodward? I am getting ready to make this purchase but it's not something that I would want to be putting in and taking out. I want to install them and forget it.

Sorry for copying the other comment, but I have the same question! I plan on driving from Maine back to Michigan for the Woodward Cruise this summer. Am I to assume that I shouldn't use these gears for long highway trips?

There is nothing wrong with using the gears on a daily basis. They are quality sets and should hold up well.
The main thing to remember is the fact that you will be turning approximately 30% (I don't remember the specific reduction) more RPMs while you're driving. What this means is,,,You will be putting 1.3 miles on your engine for every single mile your drive.
If you're a high mile driver, maybe it's not for you. If you're a drag racer, they will really help you out.
Stop and think about which type driver you are before you spend your money.

P.S. It's been rumored that there will soon be a much lower cost alternative available soon by another vendor. I'll post more if it happens!

I think what Gary had in mind would be for him to drive to Woodward he would change the gears but to drive from Cleveland to Detroit would not be much of a trip.

I thought about them and I would drive from Indy to Detroit and not think a thing of it but to go to Deadwood, SD, I would pull them and reinstall stock. It is about a 3 hour job if I remember correctly. That would be the 1st time, every time you do it would get easier.

Todd,

No additional discounts will be offered. If you will stop to think for a minute. This price is already about a $600.00 or more discount from any other gears on the market.

If you are looking for a "dealer" discount, maybe you should contact Dean at ProwlerPro to see what he has to offer.

****!!!!!$1350.00!!!!!*****

WWWWWWWOOOOOOWWWWWWWW

I know im not the poorest prowler owner but i am the youngest driving one and i do like to save money. For this amount i might very well charge it on the card and get them. I knew if i waited long enough someone would come out with something cheaper ;-) And these come with the speedo adjustment unit also?? Wow.

Now what is the exact gear ratio of the prowler pro gears??

And what will be the gear ratio of these gears??

I basically want the gears for my drag racing and burn outs. I run a 14.49ET and id like to bring that down to like a 14.2 or 14.1 Would any of these gears do that for me?? I know its like .3 but some gears bring cars down a lot and some dont. What do you guys think??

Wildcat is correct.

Going cross county I personally wouldn't be want to be in a rush. I know all these diesel don't think about the difference in wear on there motors deciding between 4.11 or 3.54 gears.

Have fun, they are easy to take out when you have done it once.

The gears in my car have slowed me down now, I cruise the speed limit which is a very good thing for me.

Too bad someone doesn't have some loaner gears, I bet a lot more would be sold.

Have a good one.
