My brother just hit it big with his business and we figured there is no better way to repay our parents then to get my mom the SLK she always wanted- the only thing is that she can only drive auto- and refuses stick. We looked at it in the dealership and it is way to bland and common where I live. We also looked at a C5 in Auto- but i didn't want to ruin a great car. We have settled on the AMAZING Prowler!!! It is just about 46k with every option. I relize that 253 horses is not a lot for a prowler and want to know if you guys know any places besides hennessey that will upgrade it. Also, what the hell is the muholland edition? Most of you guys seem to own the prowlers- so what do you think about them? Any shortcommings?

How do I take of the ugly bumper?

The Mulholland Edition is the first year Chrysler Prowler and is midnight blue with a light blue pinstripe hand painted by Dr. Ru. The sticker on those are $46K.

The other 2K1s are Plymouths and are Silver, Black Tie (Black & Silver), and Orange. The difference between the Chryslers and the Plymouths (besides the colors) are the left rear bumper has Plymouth, the Chrysler has nothing and the hood ornament is different.

Try and make sure you don't pay more than sticker... there are several deals out there that are sticker and below.

You can take off the bumpers with a wrench

Oh - and Paxton has some good supercharger, header, exhaust deals - you can check with Eric Lee at Latham Motors - there is a link from the POA home page. He has some that already have the Paxton equipment on it.

Did I miss anything Prowler Peeples???????

Biggest problem with a Prowler that I've found so far,,,
Your cheeks hurt from grinning too much and you no longer feel the need to go to work.

The LORD is right. I'm just a poor boy with a rich man's taste, but when I drive the car - can you say "oh what a feeling!" Biggest thing (problem) I have is the people that get obnoxious around the car. Then there is the DC dealerships. 5-Star ratings don't mean that much. All's they want is your money - period! Back to the Prowler - add the gears 1st. Prowlin', there is NO substitute!

To answer the question
What is a Muholland?
After the Woodward edition and the Black tie they named the Blue after the Famous Muholland Drive in CAL.

All three that have a name attached to the car was pinstriped by Dr. Rue

Ugly bumpers, contact Tom Mills for bumper removal kit that looks great. There are several other bumper removal kits but I have Tom's and it is my personal favorite, but check the site for photo's of the other kits. They all are an improvement.

Kenny, only shortcoming I see is the somewhat limited storage space. Get Mom a trailer. But more important, your Mom must be a racer if you want to hop up the Prowler for her, it is quite speedy as delivered stock. You all will have lots of fun with it no matter what you do to it!

KennyH - Welcome to the POA board and congratulations on the new cat!!!

This is the Mullholland Edition Prowler:

Kenny....not all of us feel that it doesn't have enough horsepower and are perfectly happy with the way it is! Chrysler did not build this car originally as a race car. It is a cruisin' car!! If you feel the need to upgrade, there are, obviously, plenty of options. In addition, not all of us feel the bumpers are ugly and choose to leave our cars stock. The bumpers are there for a purpose!

But that is one of things that makes belonging to this group unique.......we all have different opinions and choose to modify or not modify in any way we want!

Bottom line is.........it's a great car that gives lots of smiles and lots of pleasure!

The other option is having the bumpers painted to match the color of the car for $200 to $300. She won't be able to do much shopping in a Prowler. No room for groceries unless you have a trailer.

Keep in mind, bland or not, that is what she wanted.

We also looked at a C5 in Auto- but i didn't want to ruin a great car.

The bulk of C5's come with auto. Alot tougher to find stick but, then you mom wants auto.

We have settled on the AMAZING Prowler!!! It is just about 46k with every option. I relize that 253 horses is not a lot for a prowler and want to know if you guys know any places besides hennessey that will upgrade it.

Are you guys really buying this for your mom or yourselves?
Your mom's always wanted an SLK so you guys decide to pass on it. Then you thought about the C5 but, didn't like it in auto (even though your mom can't/won't drive a stick).
You finally settled on a Prowler and now want to have it juiced up for mom? I think not.

How do I take of the ugly bumper?
Yes, definitely take the bumpers off of mom's car.

Ken, getting in and out of the Cat is not like a "normal" car. How old is your Mom? I wouldn't take the bumpers off right away. If this is going to be a grocery getter, look elswhere, this aint the car. For cruzin this is great, but not a primary vehicle for sure.

The Prowler Roadster has giving me the most satisfaction to the point of insanity. There was days I could not think right because I own a Prowler.

The Prowler has been one of the most exciting cars I have ever owned.

I even put together a website in its honor ..... prowlerexcitement.com

PROWLER ALL THE WAY BABY!!!

yep... after thinking about this... since your business is doing so well, buy mom what she always wanted and get the Prowler for yourself. You'll both be happier!

Well, right now, I have 2 cars. I live in Westchester, New York, about 30 minutes from the city- and have to deal with terrible weather. I have a 93' Ferrari 512tr which i put a few extras into- that is my sports car, my other car is a stock s4 for the bad weather. Generally, my family prides it self on being relitively different and not getting Mercedes, BMW's or Jaguars- to many people have them where I live. My mom loves the SLK but she enjoys how exotic the Prowler is.

There is no question that if we got the car, I would be driving it- thats why I would like the extra power. Right now, she drives a A6 4.2 and my father drives a Lincoln LS.

P.S, Your right the Prowler will never be in the dust bin of why did we amke such a pile, like the 93f.

I wish I could afford a z8- there is no chance in hell . My 512 wasn't to expensive- about 95k at the time- but that was when the internet business was booming- now it is on a decline- but we just came upon new investors- so i decided to get my mom a fun car. my 512 is in the shop every other week with terrible problems.

Excuse me, I do the same for a living too and am curious as to how finding new investors gets your mom a fun car?
Now once we go public in about 24 months, sure, anythings game but using investors money to buy a car?

my 512 is in the shop every other week with terrible problems.

Older Ferrari's were more art then car. Owners of new models are actually encouraged to do weekend racing with them now that they appear more reliable. Still, don't think I could take an F40 or 50 around the track with a pile of other cars all doing 200+
